I have lots of material on me (4 Kaplan books and the latest SuperPrep book), but I'm not sure if any of it is still unused. I need some new stuff, but looking to save some money. What do you rec? 7Sage? Testmaster? LSAT Trainer? I need some new PTs'
Thanks! My ultimate goal is now a 164 (90th percentile).

Better than -12... *long, deep sigh*Alexandros wrote:Oh man, just went -4 on an LR section. ERCK. So much for my improvement. Taking up SweetTort's idea about typing up explanations.
(Was about to change my answer on one but time ran out but even if I'd have had time, still a -3)
side note - if anyone's stumped on LR solutions, I'm finding this to be a good resource https://www.manhattanprep.com/lsat/foru ... ng-f4.html
Its very possible to improve LR. I was at about -12 a month ago, now averaging around -4 to -5.Deardevil wrote:Better than -12... *long, deep sigh*Alexandros wrote:Oh man, just went -4 on an LR section. ERCK. So much for my improvement. Taking up SweetTort's idea about typing up explanations.

Definitely. Understand every right and wrong answer. If you are getting a question right by luck or the wrong reasoning during prep, you might as well be getting it wrong, IMO.Deardevil wrote:Better than -12... *long, deep sigh*Alexandros wrote:Oh man, just went -4 on an LR section. Rightaroonie. I'm using the 7Sage method of circling those I'm not "100% on,"34iplaw wrote:Definitely. Understand every right and wrong answer. If you are getting a question right by luck or the wrong reasoning during prep, you might as well be getting it wrong, IMO.

I couldn't decide whether removing the image from the quote or intentionally including it to get more bald eagle [sounds dirty] on the page. Great minds indeed. Your post is far superior. I was far too worried about not getting the 1776 slot, so I quickly googled flag eagle and posted.BirdLawExpert wrote:Great minds or something, behold my 1776th post from the Senioritis Thread.34iplaw wrote:Sorry. Yeah - TBH, I go over it briefly even if I got it right. Granted, I have more time than most likely. If I think something is an incorrect reversal, incorrect negation, or eliminated because it forces another answer to be true, I always jot that down [IR, IN, a curved arrow from one choice to the other]. I'll check it if it was right or cross it out if it was wrong. Perhaps, I won't do this as I get further on, but I think it's really helpful early on to look for these ways to eliminate answers and sort of count them as their own question. I think it also helps you get more comfortable with conditional logic when you also look for it in the answer choices and make notes of logical fallacies. I think this is *really* important to do if you picked an answer based on process of elimination [which I kind of think is a better way to approach these questions in general.]deardevil wrote:Rightaroonie. which makes a lot of sense, but damn, did I circle almost everything lol...
Ended up with 28/50, which could be worse, I suppose.

Hmm game 3, I got 1 wrong on that one but for me it was game 2 that destroyed me. I also skipped a game but I skipped game 2 and couldn't finish it because of some mistakes I made in another game that I had to fix which ate up tons of time. I don't know if I will actually go back and see what I missed, I'm thinking of using this test as a "fresh" PT when I starting doing them again. Don't know if this is a good idea or not, or if I should actually go back and check where I went wrong in things? DON'T WORRY CARA, WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER!!carasrook wrote:I still haven't gotten to go back and really look through it yet, but game 3 really messed me up. I skipped it because of time and came back and I think I must've misread it or something bc I really couldn't figure it out on test-day and ended up having to guess on like all of them, and then I missed 1 on game 2 and 2 on game 4, idek, I need to go back and figure out what happenedTheMikey wrote:Cara, sorry about your score not being what you wanted it to be. short bio:
i was PTing at an average of 169 and SOMEHOW managed a 161 on the june test... i'm still devastated about it and think i need to give myself another week or two before i start studying again, but i already registered for the september test, so here we go!!
any advice on where to begin for retakers? i was not planning on retaking, and thus, i don't think i have ANY fresh tests (i was dumb and wrote all over them - i think i may need to just buy tests again which is also a huge bummer after just paying $180 to take the test again)
also - i did my best ever in RC in june and absolutely bombed games. i knew it was happening during the test, but i didn't think it would be as bad as it was (-9). games are usually my best section, and i've never gotten more than 3 wrong per section. i also way underperformed in LR.
Yeah I thought at worst I would go -3 in LG but I got -10. Like, wot. How did you do on game 2? It's the one that fucked me the most because now that I look at it, I think I misread a rule or something.
Unasked for advice or not, it's still very helpful! Haha. I will for sure shoot you a PM or quote in the future for something!BirdLawExpert wrote:Thanks! Hopefully it helps you out. Anyone should feel free to pm me if you want more information or clarifications, or just call me into the thread via quote. I've been working with students on test-taking skills since I was in high school, so chances are I've got experience with whatever you might be struggling with. Meditation is a great blanket tool, though, and anyone who is having issues with test day performance should seriously consider it.TheMikey wrote: Amazing advice bird! I've never actually thought about meditation but I am 100% willing to try it at this point. You're completely right about the whole mind racing during the test thing. During PT and the real thing, I always found myself stressing over a previous question or the fact that I probably wasn't going to do well. I think that this meditation technique will benefit me. Especially for the June test, my nerves got to me and I was off focus for the majority of the first 2 sections which screwed me the most. Thanks again for the advice.
Also, I'm sure you're starting law school this fall and I just wanna say best of luck to you!
And thanks for the well wishes! I'm excited to move up to Austin and get everything started. Until then I'll just be killing time, doing classic old man things like giving advice that nobody asked for haha.
Haha well it helps that it was my 1776th post and not the threads. Yours was rather excellent, as well, no need to compare. Very nice! Keep it up, and like I said before, I'm putting up money on you getting that 180SweetTort wrote:Just went -0 on a pack of 5 games.
Starting to get excited about attacking this test. I have 3 months, lots of free time, enough money to get by, and a focused mind. Like, if I'm ever going to do well on this test, it's going to be now. Going to give it everything I've got.
I recommend Manhattan LR, but that's the only book I used aside from the Trainer. I also just went -4 and -3 (oof) so I'm officially not a qualified authority on these matters.Deardevil wrote:I'm just very impatient haha. I'm currently drilling the SuperPrep's LR sections before moving onto the early batch of PTs.
I did not expect LR to be this huge of a mare of night... Praying RC is more bearable.

Well, you freed up more time to prep tomorrow, so it can be looked at as studying in a way! Just need to make sure you use the freed up time to study diligently!Barack O'Drama wrote:I feel really guilty... I haven't been doing much LSAT stuff today. I maybe studied for ~2 hours this morning. Now I've just been busy running errands, doing laundry, cleaning, getting a hair cut, and 10 other things I've been putting off.
Guess I'll just hit it hard tomorrow. Maybe even do some stuff later. On a bright note, I did print out a bunch of PTs and packets I've been meaning to print. And now I have plenty of paper and ink for my printer so I'll be able to print out lots of games to re-do.
Now there's a charge.
