Hey guys, checking in after a rough test in June.. I ended up getting a 156 after PTing between 162-164 with my highest being 167. I really need to improve my overall reading skills. I bombed RC and I feel that I did bad on LR because I did not always understand the stimulus, or I would read something wrong. So, over the next 3 months I plan on reading many novels, drilling LR hardcore, and reading articles from scholarly papers and then reiterating what I just read on to microsoft word. I am hoping that these things will improve my retention skills vastly. Also, I decided to take a prep course. I figured that any outside resource would be helpful. I will still self study, but this course will be 3 times per week. Hoping for the best this time around!

I'm waiting just because I can get it in by mid October no problem and that's still early. My reasoning is that while most schools don't ding until January there are a few that will reject right of the bat. I think it'll be easier doing them all at once rather than making lists of decision timelines at each school and doing it in two waves. Just my thoughts though.

Hello all,

Took the LSAT in June for the 1st time and got a very low score. Signed up for the September LSAT. Any suggestion on study material? I did the LSAC prep books but they didn't seem to help. :|

Hey all,

Checking in. Got a disappointing 157 on the June LSAT despite that I had been preptesting 163-166. Hoping to go for the gold and get a 170 this time around. On here for some advice on study schedules, materials, etc. I know I need to just start drilling RC and LR, my two worst sections.

What are these packets? Would you say they're worth it even if I've already seen 90% of the passages?

I used powerscore for logic games, but to be completely honest I just skimmed RC and LR. I just would do sections at a time and then moved into preptests (probably about 8 altogether). I completely bombed RC and LR on the June test... I think due mainly to anxiety. So now I'm just going to drill those two sections and try and do a preptest a week. Still waiting on an explanation for that last LG on June though!

Any recommendations from anyone on how long I should study for? Is my failure more in part to nerves on test day or underpreparing? I studied for 3-4 months for the June test.

I think that identifying your weakness is the most important, and sometimes, most difficult step. In your case you think that anxiety is what gave you issues on RC or LR, so you should tailor your prep to help you overcome anxiety. My suggestion is to simulate test day conditions as closely as you can. Take preptests with a virtual proctor. Take them in locations similar to the one that you will be taking the actual exam in. Try to get to the point where you walk into the actual exam thinking 'this is no big deal, I've been doing this for months'.

That's what I'm planning on doing at least!

Do you drill RC timed or untimed?

Hello fellow LSATers!

I was also a June 2014 taker and cancelled :( . I was trolling for awhile after the test, but when I saw that everyone had a consensus of the difficulty of the test I made an account! Anyone in the Orange County, CA area that would want to meet up and study??   I was PTing mid 160's before and thought I would start up again after the holiday..

Won't be in the area for a month, but if you're anywhere in Southern Orange County, I've got some materials at my house you could borrow if you'd like, just lemme know.

I've got Manhattan LR/LG, Powerscore LG & a bunch of random other LSAT books that weren't as helpful as those three.

I personally did not drill RC from earlier prep tests just 30+, so buying cambridge comprehension passages was a good idea to me. I wanted more material to practice RC with. So far, so good. I'm liking it!

Format I have them in. I purchased them from cambridge.

I don't know if there is any advantage to drilling them like this, but I might have an opinion in about two weeks when I finish them all.

Anyone familiar with the merit of 7sage? Is it worth the money. As I said, I was PT'ing 163-166, scored a humiliating 157, and going to go for the gold on a 170 in September. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to improve mainly my RC, a bit of LR as well. Which packet is best for 7sage/is it worth it?

Hey guys,

I am planning on enrolling in a prep course in the next few weeks. Like I said earlier, I feel any outside help can only be beneficial. The only problem is, there are a good number of prep companies that do not do courses in my area (Cleveland, Pittsburgh). I was disappointed to see that Manhattan does not teach in my area. Just looking for advice on other companies. Right now I am leaning towards Powerscore. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Don't do that. One day you'll be living the dream in Hawaii, the next you'll be in shithole PA with three kids screaming.

I'm referring to my life btw
hahahahaha, this is hilarious.....shithole PA...where are you BTW?
