Change of plans:
I just found out that I'm going to be out of town until Sunday afternoon, and I'm supposed to be leading Week 4's session. Is there anyway that we can have week 4 still be on Wednesday? If that doesn't work, would anyone be willing to take my spot for that Sunday session?
Thanks in advance!

I'll leave it to you guys to have the leader for any session e-mail me a couple of days before the session so I know when to get slides in there for them, etc.

Re: December 2011 LSAT Study Group
Having just finished up the first 3 LR sections of Kaplan Mastery I have a question.. When "drilling" should you be taking as much time as you need to make sure you get 100% in a section, or taking them kind of fast? I do every question in under 2 minutes even if that means I have to make a 50/50 guess between 2 choices, but this has led to 90% accuracy over the first 3 sections. Is this the proper way to do the drilling stage or would you slow down and only worry about the timing when you are taking actual preptest sections? I know that Dave Hall says accuracy is the most important but I am worried about developing bad timing habits by taking the necessary time to get 100%.

i think at first go for accuracy, once you find you are getting 95% to 100% correct then start timing..barneytrouble wrote:Having just finished up the first 3 LR sections of Kaplan Mastery I have a question.. Re: December 2011 LSAT Study Group
I have a problem with LG.
When I do the questions the first time I seem to not follow the diagramming
till the end I pick incorrect answers.
But, on the second time I usually get the question right.
This is a general problem and not limited to a specific game type.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

What do you mean by this? That you don't make a useful diagram, or that you have one, but you don't use it, or something else?rezkirill wrote:When I do the questions the first time I seem to not follow the diagramming

Is your kaplan mastery LR book the big thick one arranged by type or section? I usually go 10 at a time and pay attention to the explanations. I save the last set of each category of questions (so like last 8-10 of one star, two star, etc) so i have a challenge set so i can work on speed.barneytrouble wrote:Having just finished up the first 3 LR sections of Kaplan Mastery I have a question.. OK I like that idea. Gonna start it after I learn fucking formal logic. Those are the worst.xChiTowNx wrote: Is your kaplan mastery LR book the big thick one arranged by type or section? In related news work got canceled today so I had some free time and took PT 29, exactly 1 month after my first PT.
LR1: -3
RC: -5
LR2: -2
LG: -0
For a 91=172 scaled. For reference, a month ago I took PT 35 and went 79=163, so this is a great surprise.

That is a legit score. And with only a month of studying, it is even more impressive!
Keep it up!

Since we seem to be moving the sessions to Sunday, can someone take mine for week 4? I'm going to be cutting it close, and I don't want to bail on everyone last minute.

Re: December 2011 LSAT Study Group
It means I don't complete the diagram for each answer choice.
I just make a rough sketch for each choice and try to eliminate it.
On my first untimed game practice chapter I got 58% right.
After I went to each question I got wrong and redid it, without looking at the answers, I got it right the first time.

Decemberites - when you decide on your Sunday start time, please have someone e-mail me (not PM, I don't check TLS on the weekends - all addictions must be kept in check) an I'll get the slides loaded up for y'all - and whoever is leading, I can send them a mod link.
The themes for session 4 are:
1. RC: The Reading Process (PEAR)
2. LG: Advanced Ordering
3. LR: Identify a Flaw Questions
And, here's my favorite song today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu3gGMGMSNw
If you get sick of studying for the LSAT, try memorizing those lyrics...

PT 45
LR1 (30 mins): -5
LR2 (29 mins): -4
LG (28 mins): -0
RC (32 mins): -7
For 83=167. Haven't looked over my LR misses yet but can already tell it is going to be blech, wasn't feeling in the zone. On the positive side, my timing for each section was going great and I just stopped at the end rather than going back over my answers and doublechecking, a bad habit for sure but one that I will worry about fixing when I am not so tired. RC obviously still awful.

Also, interested in reviewing a test (anything before 53 + A/B/C/June 2007) if anyone needs to someone to review with one day!
