Re: What age are most of you???
I'll be 26 in a couple weeks. I like this thread, I've been pretty nervous about being the only person older than 22 when I start in the fall!

I have a feeling that depends on where you go. I am going to visit schools and see for myself. I don't look in my 30's which is good and bad. They don't think I am an old man but I also get no respect! lolmillieb wrote:I'll be 26 in a couple weeks. I listened to the Vegaboys in college. Let's just leave it there.

Only someone barely in her 20s would be naive enough to ask if age is really that big of a deal and to advise "don't worry about it"
The smiley face was the coup de grace.

I would make a similiar statement, say don't worry about it and use a smiley or 2 as well. Am I naive enough to be back in my 20's?chango wrote:jelizabeth88 wrote:Is age really that big of a deal? 32.
On a semi-related note, the one-size-fits-all nature of LSDAS and law school admissions sucks royally. That the grades that I got 15 years ago (when most of you were in elementary school) count toward my GPA number, but ones that I got during the last two years in a top 20 MBA program don't, is ridiculous. That any school that recognizes this obvious discrepancy and admits me does so at the peril of its GPA percentile numbers (and therefore its precious ranking) is perverse.

Re: What age are most of you???
I was going to say something like this originally, but after some thought, I realized that I wouldn't have done this when I was 25. As a matter of fact, if I did this when I was 25, my life wouldn't have been as complete. I spent my 20's pursuing something I could have only done in my 20's. If I did this instead, I would have never been able to do what I did.Muckduck wrote:I'm 25. I wish I had done this 3 years ago...r6_philly wrote:33. MBA programs are notorious for grade inflation; yes even those from a top 20.

On the other hand, my hunch is a 3.5 earned at an undergraduate college 20 years ago is worth more than a 3.5 earned this year, also because of grade inflation.

Re: What age are most of you???
Fair point (especially since grade inflation is probably worse among top schools than it is at others), although my b-school (BYU) imposes a curve that keeps the average GPA fixed at a reasonable level.chango wrote:bgdddymtty wrote:32.

Regardless, any system that forces a school to say, essentially, "Yes, we can see that you've been a 3.5 student for the last eight years, but the Universal Master Computer says that you're a 2.9, so you're a 2.9" is too rigid for its own good. Just sayin'.
