This is one thing that is difficult for me to swallow, but I'm clearly biased. When I hear him speak, he has conviction and his descriptions of the "average" American resonates with me because I come from a low-income immigrant household and also have a service background that has exposed me to how much of America actually lives. BUT, even with my background I would say that it took me years to really begin to understand how policies and systemic injustices affected my (and others') everyday experiences. So on the one hand I get why people think he is an exaggerating loony and don't feel the urgency of his claims, but on the other it bothers me that people are so quick to dismiss him because he doesn't speak like a typical politician when he so clearly articulates, expresses outrage, and proposes solutions the problems that much of the country faces every day.perfunctory wrote:What do ppl think about Sanders lacking prez gravitas/being perceived as loony independent from Vermont?
If anything there IS (as much as I hate to admit it) some resemblance to Trump, in that they are tackling on the establishment with the support of people who are fed up with it. The difference is that the values and goals they espouse are extremely different, and Bernie's attacks on people tend to be based on the values and policies they represent rather than on the people personally.
Ok I'm getting self-conscious because of all the BernieBros talk, but I'm just really enthusiastic about him, haha
