Checking in. Just took my first diagnostic on Friday (June 2007) and scored a 168 (-2 LG, -2 LR, -4 LR, -2 RC).

I'm still unsure of whether or not I will actually be taking the test this June, I plan on studying my brains out and seeing where I'm at as the deadlines approach. I'll primarily be studying using the PowerScore LG and LR Bibles and drilling the Cambridge packets. Are there any additional study materials that any of you would recommend, particularly for RC? As of now, my plan for RC is just to continue reading dense texts and improve my reading speed, but please let me know if there are any tried and true RC study books that you may have benefited from.

Also, I have a question regarding how payment for the LSAT works. On LSAC, it says that the basic fees include the LSAT itself ($165) as well as credential assembly services ($160), whatever the hell that means. Additionally, there is a $25 auxiliary fee for law school reports. Does this mean that once I pay for the test itself, I have to pay $25 for each school that I would like to send the score to? And do I have to make these law school report payments when I pay for the test itself, or can I pay for the test only and report the score to schools on a later date? (I plan on applying during the 2015-2016 cycle).

You pay LSAC $165 each time you take the test. When you are ready to apply, you register for the CAS (160$). Then each time you apply to a school, you pay for the schools app fee (or have a waiver) plus the $25 to LSAC for a report.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. These folks are pretty good at getting you to spend a bunch of money in order to apply to schools that will cost you a bunch more money. But it's all in the game, I suppose...

ive taken the test twice...165s both times. im confident in a -0/-1 in LG, float from -3 to -6 in each LR, and im sitting at a -3 to -8 wrong on RC.

when PTing for my latest test (october), i was hitting 170s, but no bubble sheets, 2-3minutes of a break between sections, and no 5th section.

im just about finished with the trainer this time around...and my plan is to PT once or twice each weekend while getting through the manhattan LR guide on weekdays until test day. i cant PT on weekdays because I work and get home pretty late.

what do you guys think? do you think there is a better way to use my time? i plan to go through the manhattan LR and blind review as to get solid in LR, and hope that practicing what ive gone through with RC in the trainer will improve RC enough for me to finally hit 170 in june. should i go for the cambridge LR drilling instead of manhattan? (manhattan is more like learning everything again with not as much drilling as i would have hoped to have seen in the book itself)

any feedback would be much appreciated, cheers!

Use the manhattan LR book with the Cambridge drill packets.

Also, make sure you stick to strict timing (check out the 7sage proctor app).

The trainer should prove very helpful for your RC, ime.

some of the RC drills toward the end of the book seem excessive and repetitive in the trainer...either agree with me or throw down the hammer and force me to do them

edit** do you find more value in the cambridge packets from pt1-38 or 40-60? i only ask because i plan to PT in the 50s and wouldnt want to redo questions if i could help it.

Started studying. In the ~175 range but hoping to consisting miss <2 per test. Having problems with the LR section because some of the wording (not the typical logic wording, more like tax/poll lingo) trips me up. Went through the PS Bible and went from -9 or so on the sections to -1-3, but looking for more resources for the LR and LG sections. Manhattan, maybe?

Took a PT today! and I was so so about it, not too happy and not too upset...
Just a little background, my first PT last summer was a 150 and I took one about 3 months ago and got a 156

LG: I am usually very good at logic games so I was happy with this performance. A few of the questions were more difficult than usual for me so I was happy to see that I was able to get through it at -1. Needless to say by my other scores, I will still be doing logic games during my prep but my focus will be on the other two sections.
LR: Wow I was not too happy about this. I now know that my past studying this month has not been effective and I was being lazy and I definitely need to step up my game! I have the trainer, Cambridge, and Manhattan so there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to get to -5 or -6 with good thorough prep (I'll take any studying advice about how you top scorers do it!!)
RC: I was actually okay with this section for now. My first two tests I went -12 and -11, and I just started to read the Trainer Section about RC and it is making me see things WAY more clearly now. Now I just need to keep drilling RC and improving my approach and I hope to get to -4 or -5 around test time.

I am hoping to jump up to the raw score in the mid-low 80s to get my target score! Going to require a lot of work my studying method has been shifted from QUALITY over QUANTITY!

Solid improvements though! 150-->159 is a good start!

How are you doing/reviewing LR? THAT should be your main focus. If you can get LR down to -1/-2 per section then you'll be in great shape! Also, do NOT settle for a target score of low 160s. You CAN absolutely do better than that! We are here to help!

20 cents when it is black and white/double-sided. It will cost you a TON of money. If I were you I would just order the PT's. Don't you get them for like $4? It could be as much as half the cost and easier to work with.

Also did you go to college in the area? Do you know someone at a high school or college with free printing?
