Yeah - I think the reason for that 17x scores get so neurotic is that every point in that range does really make a huge difference in outcomes. I'm satisfied with 171+.dj9i27 wrote:My average PT is 176/7, and I would gladly walk away with a 170. A lot of people on TLS I think are those who break into that 17X barrier but, when looking at it objectively it's 98% of test takers don't break that coveted 17X mark. A score with a 170 means you scored better than 98 percent of the people who took the test, that is something personally that I could walk away from happy. Could I/you have potentially done better, of course but in my opinion anything in the 170s is a steller score.Amen. I was listening to some lsat podcasts (http://www.thinkinglsat.com/blog/) last night. There was a guy who got a 170 retake after bombing the test before. He sounded pretty ecstatic. I'm not sure if the TLS mindset is affecting me but I think I would highly consider retaking if I got a 170. My fear is that I do not yet know the test well enough that I can remain consistently above 173+ for all of my PTs before December. I think that might be my litmus test - if I do not receive consistency, then I will withdraw for Feb/June.

That's fair. Any NY recommendations? A bunch have reopened and I need to switch from Rutgers. It was the only one open when I booked and not really close to me. Unfortunately, there are no seats in Hofstra or Hofstra isn't offering it this seating. CUNY School of Law or Queens college are supposed to be good?dj9i27 wrote:This is true, with me at least anything over 175 is pure luck; not luck in the sense where I'm guessing but luck where the RC passages were made for me and the LR is tolerable. Question for all of you out there:
My professor told me I should not apply until I get my December LSAT score, but I spoke with the Dean of SLS (they had an informational event here with the Dean of Duke Law) and she told me I should submit all my application materials before the December LSAT score is released to get a bump on adcomm review.
What are you all doing? I have my personal statement and diversity statement ready to go, I just need someone to read it and am hoping my recommenders will give me some input on both.
I was planning on seeing how I do on test day. If I feel confidant that I did well, then I was thinking I would submit all my materials. Then again, you never really know until you see that score.
What are you all doing and what do you suggest I do?

My concern is that CUNY Law reviews seem to be from when it was in Flushing, not LIC. Pace and Queens seem to have really mixed reviews online which worries me. I just did CUNY since its a new building, but, if anyone has details about the LIC building, let me know. I much rather be out $90 than a shitty test center.Mikey wrote:I took at both pace uni and queens. Both were great!! I heard cuny law is good as well.34iplaw wrote:That's fair. I don't think it's available this administration, but Hofstra on Long Island (pretty close to city still) is pretty good.

I'm waiting til my scores come in. I'm just not comfortable submitting anything prior to getting my score, especially with the goose egg I have right now. If your prof recommends it though, you should take it into consideration. I certainly don't know the intricacies and advantages of it, I Just want my packages to be submitted all at once, no piecemeal action.ngogirl12 wrote:just voted

I think LR is harder earlier tho, IMO. Newer LRs flow so much better. Also games are harder earlier.nimbus cloud wrote:Thank you, gentlemen.![]()
Though I do have to say that I think those PTs in the 20s had more reasonable RCs (no way I could go -0 on a modern one) and more generous curves (e.g. this one was -14). Obviously the curve is irrelevant when you get a 180, but I'd still like that cushion on a real exam today.

sitting the cycle out but will be ITT either way. haven't withdrawn from december yet but will later. might take in February as my 3rd and final take seeing how things go, or i might wait until June.
for LR, i'm going to go through the 7sage CC again and drill the entire (or the majority) cambridge LR by type v2 book again (never finished it anyways and probs dont remember shit from it).

yeah, i really didn't want to sit this cycle out but it's for the best. i'd rather sit out and get a dope score than settle for low ranked school. not that there's anything wrong with going to a low ranked school, i just know that i have the potential and shit for a better score so fuck itdj9i27 wrote:as for someone who is taking 1 year off from UG, I don't regret my decision but everyone in my peer group is either starting a career or continued in academia personally I just feel like I'm lagging behind.Mikey wrote:sitting the cycle out but will be ITT either way. haven't withdrawn from december yet but will later. might take in February as my 3rd and final take seeing how things go, or i might wait until June.

but I don't regret it, a break from academia is sort of nice (then again I just work part time and exercise now other than study).
