I really really don't think I can survive THAT long haha. But actually, if we don't get our scores until Wednesday, I will be wasting so much time the next couple of days that I could be using to finish apps (I need my score to finalize my school list)Vino.Veritas wrote:*Wednesdayemilycc1026 wrote:Uuuugh another day of disappointment. Personally I think it will be Tuesday, but after the hell that was September, I can't spend every day on eggshells anxiously thinking that today is the day, so I'm preparing myself for Wednesday, and if it comes a day earlier it's a bonus.em15 wrote:I really really don't think I can survive THAT long haha. Isn't the LSAC closed tomorrow? I mean September was scheduled the 20th and came out the 19th so I figured it would be kind of akin for December.em15 wrote:I really really don't think I can survive THAT long haha. I'm where you are. I also only wrote "why X" for schools that asked. I also have a little at the end of my PS that mentions the different schools. If your reaches are T6, they assume if you get in you will matriculate, so they don't need a "why X". I've heard Michigan, UVA, Penn, and Duke like them for protecting their yield. I did one for the local school that I actually visited. Are you doing optional leadership, activities, and awards essays? I'm not sure about it because I'll be restating my resume.theboringest wrote:Well I finished my apps except for some basic stuff and a final read through of the resume/personal statement, so when we get scores I'll be able to send them in...I only wrote "why X" for schools that specifically ask for it, anyone have thoughts on that? Should I do it for my reaches? Local schools that might think I'm not genuinely interested and treating them like safetys?
Sept was a bit weird though because LSAC's President died suddenly.dj9i27 wrote:Isn't the LSAC closed tomorrow? Nah no to the leadership, activities, and awards- they've got my resume so it's just repeating. Good info on Duke/UVA/Penn though, thank you- I wrote one for Mich because it's listed in their prompts, but the others are definite targets of mine so I'll get those ready...I find the "why X" essays are easy tbh, I've spent so much time researching the schools it basically writes itself.em15 wrote:I'm where you are. How long are your "Why X" essays? A page? I thought that was the way to go to not repeat my resume...makes me feel better I'm not the only one.theboringest wrote:Nah no to the leadership, activities, and awards- they've got my resume so it's just repeating. Yeah 1 page- no need for them to be too long right? Just enough to show "hey I know the important stuff about your school and am interested enough to spend time writing this".em15 wrote:How long are your "Why X" essays? A page? They've released on "closed" days before. They've even released on New Years Day before...which they would have definitely been "closed" for.StopLawying wrote:Just curious, why are people so convinced scores will be out tomorrow? Isn't LSAC closed? My guess is Tuesday.

I feel like I'm regurgitating things found on their website....is this normal? I mean what else is there to really say on a Why X besides mentioning specific things they offer? Also I mentioned family members having been in undergrad at some schools (UT), and that having family close by makes them a stronger option. Is that appropriate?

That's one of my favorite Jessica Walter lines.
That is risky. I would try and frame it as "I took advantage of some of the resources (as much as I could), but there's so much more I would like to explore/take advantage of"34iplaw wrote:Thoughts on a statement to your alma mater for a Why X that is sort of framed on it as another opportunity to take full advantage of the university's resources to a degree you didn't as an undergrad - perhaps took for granted or whatever - could be good or probably a bit like too risky and could come off more negative than positive.
Now there's a charge.
