Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
So I'm drilling RC right now and I notice that the only problems I consistently seem to get incorrect are the "what is the main idea" Q's. Anyone got any tips/tricks/cheat codes on how to get these right.

I wish I could insert a table, but I follow this method:PoopNpants wrote:So I'm drilling RC right now and I notice that the only problems I consistently seem to get incorrect are the "what is the main idea" Q's. Anyone got any tips/tricks/cheat codes on how to get these right.
If the passage is about a problem, then the Main Point is the solution.
If the passage is about a mystery (cause/effect), then the MP is the explanation that the author advocates.
If the passage is about a Person the author likes, then the MP is the person is great.
If the passage is about a person the author dislikes, then the MP is the person is not great.
If the passage is about a study/experiment, then the MP is the study/experiment is good/bad.

Lol, I knew someone would say that. You can plug your answers directly into 7sageSean_33 wrote:Pardon my ignorance, but how do you score a preptest?
Or you could just check your answers against the answer sheet, and use the scale to see where your raw score would register on that scale
But really you should be Blind Reviewing your preptests prior to scoring them, but that's just my opinion

How many full timed PTs do you all take per week? Right now I'm at 2 and then drilling the other days. I'm considering going to 3, but haven't decided if it's worth it.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I just study right now so I don't work or do much of anything else, so I take 3-4 a week. I thin it's manageable assuming you have a lot of time to devote to studying and blind reviewing afterwards, then drilling weanesses on off-days.MrBalloons wrote:How many full timed PTs do you all take per week? Are you planning to complete all the PTs before the Oct test?PoopNpants wrote:I just study right now so I don't work or do much of anything else, so I take 3-4 a week. Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I don't have any real goal to get all of them done by October. I'll only have time for 1 a week in September, but if I do 3 per week in August I will have done something like 48-75. And then my drilling will cover 1-40.
I'm thinking that sounds like the most reasonable setup.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, I'm fortunate to have parents who are cool enough to let me live at home and prioritize on the LSAT. When you say you take back-to-back PTs you mean you take like 2 in one sitting? or you take them on back-to-back days? If the former that is pretty wild dog, but good for endurance i guessMint-Berry_Crunch wrote:Hehe. I was doing back back PTs last week, but they were only 4 sections each. I don't work either so I can squeeze up to 5 a week. I'm terrified of this gap in employment, but I do t want to rush out and get a job now and mess up my groove.

Got a 167 in December (blah). Got a cooler job afterwards that runs through the fall and makes it nearly impossible to study consistently (let alone physically get to a testing center) so sitting out the cycle and will retake at some point in the future.mist4bison wrote:Oh, hey Rigo!
