Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
how many practice tests is everyone planning on taking? I counted back from June 8th and saw that I'll probably take 36.
That doesn't include using some for drilling.

That's not bad! Did you write the test in Feb?RZ5646 wrote:My last completely fresh PT was a 174 but I think I got kinda lucky. I'm probably in the 168-172 range... haven't PTed in awhile so idk.kang wrote:checking in. Took the Feb. test and most likely going to retake...
Contemplating on whether or not I should retake June or October... What's everyone here scoring?

The idea of retaking sucks. Hate the idea of having to study for this test againDirigo wrote:I'm a retaker too.kang wrote:checking in. Took the Feb. test and most likely going to retake...

Plan for June and have October as a backup.

Nah this is my first time. And I may actually push back to October... I'm really struggling to find the motivation to study.kang wrote:That's not bad! Full timed practice tests, about 25.pianoman4 wrote:how many practice tests is everyone planning on taking? I counted back from June 8th and saw that I'll probably take 36.

I'm going to take as many PTs as I can, but that number is dwindling as I procrastinate

Atleast 25-30 timed tests.

why do so many people use this wording? "I'm writing the LSAT in..." 1/6 of the test is writing along with the small statement you need to write, everything else is bubblingzacboro wrote:TCR is as many as needed to get to the desired scoring range of the writer.pianoman4 wrote:how many practice tests is everyone planning on taking? Probably old school phrasing that has been passed down. Zac making it a noun though is unique.Smallville wrote:why do so many people use this wording? I'm pretty sure ppl in the UK write tests while those in the US take them, and then other ppl picked up on itDirigo wrote:Probably old school phrasing that has been passed down. I hate my job so much that I'm actually looking forward to the idea of studying again to retake in June.

Hey all,
I was here before briefly, but this is the real "checking in". Retaking a "sort of low" 160. Hoping for 170+.

"Writing" is a British term that pops up occasionally in LSAT discussions because Canadians also use it.

Good luckThe Abyss wrote:Drilling flaw and parallel flaw questions today along with in/out games. Tomorrow I PT!

Just finished up today's "PT" (putting it in quotes because it was only 4 sections with no answer sheet and in pen. Did do it straight through with no break after the third section if that helps at all). Was a PR since I started, so feeling pretty good about that, but a lot of my misses were on freaking obvious questions. Very frustrating. Still not where I wanna be by June though, so back to the drawing board tomorrow.
Question though... Consistently like half of my errors are on Qs I didn't circle to go back and BR. They are easy Qs that I just misread/misinterpret. Any strategy to deal with this besides just being more careful/drilling more and taking more PTs?

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I still have that problem, jetsfan1.
So I've built a calendar for studying now. Today I'm doing some thorough BRs on ~6 sections that I haven't done a sufficient job BRing on, and skimming the LGB. This LSAT stage is the boring part of going back to ensuring I have my fundamentals down, so re-reading/skimming through MH/PS books. I'll also order the Trainer today.

I'm just very liberal with my circling. If I have any doubt whatsoever, I circle it and come back to it during BR. BR is a painstakingly long process, but a necessary one.jetsfan1 wrote:Good luckThe Abyss wrote:Drilling flaw and parallel flaw questions today along with in/out games. Tomorrow I PT!![]()

Trust me, I am too. I'll just misread something and the answer seems so obvious because of the misread, so I don't circle it. Whatever, gonna focus on the PR for now, get back to basics tomorrow. The Abyss wrote:I'm just very liberal with my circling. If I have any doubt whatsoever, I circle it and come back to it during BR. ETA: Also, RZ, did LR reading the question stem first rather then the argument. Felt a little weird/unnatural tbh but after doing a full PT with it can definitely see the advantage and I'm gonna stick with it. You read the arguments in a completely different way when you know what your looking for.

I think just more careful, untimed drilling is the answer to this with an eye towards understanding, interpreting, and reading correctly the stim and ACs. Eventually it will all come together (and if it hasn't by June, scrap June and take in October).jetsfan1 wrote:Trust me, I am too. To use a sports analogy, the game just has to slow down in your head and that comes through lots and lots of drilling/practice. It's like the freshman QB who misses the obvious Mike in a middle zone on a throw to the middle and it gets picked. It's very obvious, but with everything happening (time constraints, distractions, nerves, etc) you just miss it. Lots of practice should eliminate that.
ETA: I have the same problem, and it does feel like a punch to the soul dong when you realize you missed a question on a stupid mistake.

Gotta find the Mike haha great analogy. Especially if he's dropping into a Tampa 2. We'll get there though
Just gotta keep drilling away!

I BR every single question. It is painfully long but prevents missing obviously simple mistakes the second time through.jetsfan1 wrote:Question though...
