bee wrote:same here, i wonder how people who are doing 70 as a PT feel about it in general. i cant separate the traumatizing memories enough from the experience to be entirely objective, lol. i honestly though the lr/rc wasnt bad at all coming out of the test, with lr2 a bit more difficult than average, but i thought lg was a lot more difficult than other people did (obviously).dosto5 wrote:I'm actually pretty curious to know how your retake went/felt. I know many people (myself included) considered PT70 on the easier side, but I still think LR2 was one of the harder LR sections I've seen. Could have just been testing conditions, though.bbkk wrote:The LSAT Trainer just arrived last night. Will start on it today!
Also, I did PT 70 last night...wasn't feeling too good. Going to grade/review it tonight.
Guys..so I finished grading my PT 70, and here's the breakdown (Oct score in the bracket):
LR: -2(-3)
RC: -2(-6)
LG: -0(-2)
LR: -1 (-4)
176 (167)
176 is near my PT ave. This is def not the most difficult test I've done, but bee you are so right - I couldn't get rid of the traumatizing memories while doing it. This was seriously affecting my timing - I almost used every second of each section ( I usually can finish LR/LG in 27~28 mins).
I compared my answers with my original Oct test answers. The 5 q I missed this times were the same ones I also missed in Oct - those probably are my real weaknesses that I need to address. The other 10 q, which I missed in Oct but got right this time, were missed pretty much due to test day anxiety. Those are not very difficult questions and I usually would get them right. After a close examination, I think the problems generally fall into below categories:
1. I got caught up in the details and failed to recognize the argument structure (often very simple and straightforward)
2. I failed to notice the key words that would help me easily eliminate the wrong answer (I.e. most)
3. Pure stupidity/carelessness ( misread stems, LG errors)
4. God knows why I picked that obviously wrong answer. My head must be kicked by a horse or something...
For 1&2, I can probably try to work on, but 3&4...I really don't know. At this point, I can't tell if I could do better in Dec, because I can imagine that I will be even more nervous by knowing that Dec is my LAST chance.

Wow, a few days off from TLS feels good.

Mails and emails of fee waivers keep pouring in while i'm studying for a retake. It's almost like the forces that be don't want me to take the LSAT again. From my fellow retakers' experiences, are any of you receiving such correspondences from any top schools?

I am, but following the 2013-2014 Fee Waivers thread is keeping me grounded. Most schools seem to cast a very wide net, sometimes even dipping below their 25%. And some of the best applicants by their numbers aren't getting many waivers. Receiving a waiver doesn't seem very indicative of how I'll perform unfortunately.retaking23 wrote:Mails and emails of fee waivers keep pouring in while i'm studying for a retake. Yeah I'm suspicous about waiver too, but I'm always happy to get them. I mean hey, if a school that I was going to apply to sends me a waiver, that's great because I save that fee and can use it for artisanal groceries instead, but really it's probably just an attempt to ramp up apps rather than their truly being convinced of your "exceptional achievements."bee wrote:yup this. so far i have columbia, nyu, penn, texas, ucla, usc, uva, duke, and gtown (with a bunch of others i cant remember right now), but if anything it just makes me more anxious to do well in dec so i have a good shot at admittance and/or big schollies.melodygreenleaf wrote:I am, but following the 2013-2014 Fee Waivers thread is keeping me grounded. That's brilliant. I'll just divert all my energy from study for a retake to sending out head shots to all of the T14. It's fool proof, MEDIANS BE DAMNED!neprep wrote:Just PW the admissions offices and wow them with your stature and height, mhaas. Wow! Did all those schools contact you first or did you email some of them asking for fee waivers? I expect to be doing this in the coming weeks as applications loom. Applying is too freking expensive.bee wrote:yup this. so far i have columbia, nyu, penn, texas, ucla, usc, uva, duke, and gtown (with a bunch of others i cant remember right now), but if anything it just makes me more anxious to do well in dec so i have a good shot at admittance and/or big schollies.melodygreenleaf wrote:I am, but following the 2013-2014 Fee Waivers thread is keeping me grounded. Also from LA here, hey!bee wrote:scholarship negotiation + i am very debt averse, so i'm casting a wide net to look for the best combo of rank/scholly. in addition, it's basically obligatory for me to apply to ucla/usc even though im 100% sure i wont attend, because im from l.a. and my friends/family constantly bug me about applying there, lol.melodygreenleaf wrote:bee wrote:these are mostly unsolicited. if your gpa/lsat is at or above median, i'd def give soliciting waivers a shot. i just calculated my app costs, and even with the fee waivers, i'd still end up paying about $1165 for 18 apps because of the lsac reporting fee
18. That's almost twice the number of schools I'm applying to. Are some schools just for scholarship negotiations or would you actually attend them if accepted?

And also am applying to ucla/usc for the same reasons haha. I would probably have gone the same route as you actually if my GPA was higher, but scholarships are rare for the splitters.

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Is there a problem if I haven't gotten fee waiver emails from anyone? I have a great GPA and my LSAT isn't great compared to people here, but it still is pretty good overall. Did I miss the boat on something? I have an LSAC account.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
