That's not bad. What was your section breakdown? If you mostly missed LG questions you should break 170 pretty easily.[/quote]

Section 1: Logical Reasoning; missed 6
Section 2: reading Comprehension; missed 7
Section 3: Analytical Reasoning; missed 9
Section 4: Logical Reasoning; missed 4

it was prep test A of the super prep.

Hey Preston,

What is your timing like on RC? How long are you taking to read the passage, how are you marking it up, etc? There might be some clues there that can help improve your score.

I did not mark up the reading section, although I did begin to read the power score rcb over christmas which began to show me how to do so. I am currently working through the trainer and then will be using the bibles throughout my 12 week prep schedule. Hopefully with enough prep I can achieve much better results on the rc part.

Hey folks, new poster here. I have a few questions I want to crowdsource.

I took the Dec. test and bombed (long story short it came down to a test-center disturbance that distracted me and caused me to misbubble). Leading up to the Dec. test I noticed a scary trend in my practice scores - while my overall score was improving (albeit slowely) my LR scores were gradually getting worse. Even after returning to the books for review and drilling LR relentlessly. Anyone else have this issue? Having searched around for answers I've found a mixed bag of 'LR is harder on newer tests' & 'LR is NOT harder on newer tests'.

Also, is the forum still in agreement that Manhattan and PowerScore Bible are the best prep materials for LR? Is there anything else out there someone would recommend for LR?

Thanks!!

Powerscore for LG.
The Trainer followed by Manhattan for LR.
RC is all-around hard to teach and learn but I would go with Manhattan.

Have you been noting the types of questions you're getting wrong? I know I personally started seeing a drop in my assumption questions, I went back to the books and realized I was mixing up my strats for sufficient (justify) and necessary assumption questions.
I track every question type but nothing really jumps out at me. The question types I miss seem to correlate with their overall frequency. Maybe I just have a degenerative brain disease and I'm slowly getting dumber and dumber.

Great strategy for working on pacing. You can do something similar with LR: 4 sections of 2 pages each. Has psychological benefits, too. Similar to "chunking"--breaking down large tasks into small ones--when struggling with anxiety. Breaks down one of the most difficult components of the test--timing, or pacing--into small, manageable chunks. Time-chunks that are easy to retain a strong sense of (at least in my opinion) while answering the questions. Also, easier to tinker with and change your approach to than a hunkin' 35 minutes--you can easily get lost in that.

So what kind of watch is everyone using? I think I'll go with my everyday watch, my faithful Seiko auto diver. I have it on a zulu strap that can be fastened in such a way as to support the watch at angles between 30 and 60 degrees, offering an ideal desktop timekeeping experience.

My husband if he decides or has to retake will be using his watch I bought him for Christmas. I bought it during one of the Amazon holiday sales. It was one of my big presents for him this year.

Beautiful watch, much better than the only review on there. It's a true Swiss and people on watch forums were saying that Zeno makes high quality, on the lower price end watches. It has a quartz movement, it's water resistant to 99 feet, and it has anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.

Your watch sounds really nice, Seiko is a good watch brand. Also very practical for test taking with the adjustable zulu strap. I bet being able to tilt it to 30 or 60 degrees is really useful. :)

Hey June thread,

I'm starting an LSAT "tip of the day" thing in the BP thread. You guys should come check it out if you're interested. It might not actually be daily, but I'll aim to post general advice in there at least 4-5x/week.

Feel free to drop in if you have any questions about anything at all. (LSAT related or otherwise.) Happy to help!

The professionals forum was created for a reason.

Just made an observation, dude. Didn't mean to twist your panties.

Contemplating on whether or not I should retake June or October... What's everyone here scoring?

My last completely fresh PT was a 174 but I think I got kinda lucky. I'm probably in the 168-172 range... haven't PTed in awhile so idk.

I'm a retaker too.
Plan for June and have October as a backup.
