I have been prepping for a while, but have just recently become extremely focused with studying. I am hoping to take the December test if my scores begin to shoot up into the 160's soon. I've been struggling with LR, but after reading the assumption questions section in the Manhattan study guide and drilling using the Cambridge packets, I am noticing that my focus while reading is a lot better. I understand what I am reading while zoning in on the logical gaps, and anticipate that I will get better as I continue. When I do an LR section timed I get about -6 and when I do it un timed I get about -6. Reviewing my questions I get wrong I realize I am making careless mistakes. I just did a section, and potentially could have scored 25/26 (one question I really didn't get). All the others I missed were seriously due to mishaps such as missing a word in an answer choice, etc. Can anyone share how they fixed this? I really feel like I'm on the brink of a a breakthrough, but what is it that I might be missing? I should note that I am putting at least 4-5 hours of studying on week days after work, and my weekends have become devoted to this. Am I not studying enough?

Damn I don't know you guys think that having a full time job makes you study better. I work 9-6 and by the time I get home I'm exhausted. I can study early in the week, but come thursday/friday I'm so run down that I can barely managed to get through a drill section.

I think this time around I'm going to change my schedule so that I work M - T off W then work T-F-S off SUN. Hopefully that will stop me from getting so worn down that I can't focus. It would probably help if I got 8 hours sleep which NEVER seems to happen.

Should already be asleep right now but my apps are due NOV 1 so what can ya do?

Short-time lurker and first time poster here - hello TLS.

I lurked the October 2013 waiting thread until I got my score and wasn't exactly happy with it. I'm in the median of the school I'd like to get into so I'm retaking in December in order to increase my chances of landing a merit scholarship.

I previously took a Kaplan course and did fine, I went up 17 points from my diagnostic to my final preptest. I got pretty nervous on test day and my score suffered.

I registered for the December test and I've ordered the LSAT Trainer book to motivate myself for this retake. I also have a PowerScore LG Bible I bought years ago but never used for my October test as I didn't want to confuse myself (flawed assumption here?)

My LR and RC could use the most improvement, I think I just need practice LG more (and not psych myself out on test day)

My question is this:

Should I supplement my LSAT Trainer studying over the course of the next month with the LG Bible and possibly Manhattan LR books?

My apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, and thank you for welcoming me, TLS.

im with you on this. working definitely does not help motivate me - it helps make me want to sleep. I'm reverse with the trend though - I have a hard time studying early in the week, but pick up the pace hump-day through Sunday. Friday is usually my best study day actually. I wish i could change my sched, but no dice...

I do not know much about the Trainer personally. I know Mike Kim used to be with Manhattan LSAt (maybe he still is) and they are great. Given that, I'm sure that the Manhattan material will mesh harmoniously with the Trainer if you want to use both. As for the LG bible, I'm absolutely sure it will not hurt because the LG section is such that you can explore a bunch of different ways to do the games and the variety will only help you since it will add to your flexibility.

Same thing here. I work 8 to 5/6 depending on the day/deadline, I usually get home and go for a run and start studying at like 7-8. Depending on the day i either go til 10 or 12am. Weekends are by far the best for me, since I can catch up on needed sleep.

Just dropping in to say good luck to everyone! I know around this time in October, I was feeling like time was running out, but just remember a ton of good things can happen in a month and you're all going to kill it! Let me know if I can be of any assistance - I'll try to lurk here periodically.

Awesome - I'll look into ordering the Manhattan LR book (first 6 chapters right?) and using my LG Bible.

I sadly don't really have any vacation days since I just started and I'm not eligible for them until after Xmas (but maybe I'll "come down" with a nasty cough a few days before). I've given myself 4 months to study so at least I'm not trying to cram it in, it's just not a very fun time atm. This upcoming month is being dubbed "No Fun November" so hopefully it'll be a solid last month push.

lol yeah no fun november is right...when my friends demand to see me, the few times i cave (weddings and stuff, basically only stuff i'd hurt feelings over if i said no) i've given them all a heads up that i'm not going to be fun and additionally i'll probably be calling out the flawed reasoning of all of their statements (have been accidentally doing this. really pisses my parents off and i honestly dont mean to be a dipshit - i think it means im in the zone! haha).

I just keep telling myself it'll all be worth it when I'm opening up that LSAC email in late December/early January. I just. keep. telling myself.....

i'm not sure what you mean by the first 6 chapters. I have the third edition and it was well over 10 chapters worth of instruction. It's quite long. If you are trying to really shore up your LR, I'd suggest you consider drilling LR questions using the Cambridge LR bundles while you go over the instruction. Instruction is nothing without the practice. Happy studying!

Hey guys, I started a separate topic (http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 6&t=219038) but it might be worth to ask in here. I am in college, with a good amount of time to spend every day studying. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to really drill LR? I got the big bundle that has the categorized LR from 1-38 and the Manhattan LR book. I just don't know if I should do a few from each difficulty at a time, build up in difficulty, etc. I am also going to be drilling RC to a lesser extent.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday.

i figure that last 2 weeks i'm going to back off studying intensely, and that will help find the "relax" balance. But on the flip side, the next 4 weeks are going to be nuts

Just took PT 53:

LR -1
LG-0
LR -2
RC-0

179

Feels good. With the release of the October test I'm getting more and more freaked out about how soon we'll be sitting the test. I can't even concentrate at work. All I think about is the LSAT

A few days off from PTs after back to back 173s. Drilling Flaw/Weaken/Strengthen (entire Cambridge packet) and doing individual game sections + redoing tougher games.

Thinking Friday for another PT (53)

This is awesome! I can only wonder how you 175+ people think as you traverse through those silly arguments and dense passages that would make even the brightest English teachers scratch their heads (or at least re-read  ).

I also have some not-so-bad news: just took PT 42 and scored [another] 170.

LG: -1
LR: -2
RC: -6 (Frekin' time sapping Lictenstein)
LR: -2

Everything is more or less back on track from yesterday when I miraculously did awesome on RC and bombed an LR. Still it sucks knowing that RC either makes or breaks me  . At this point in studying, I doubt I could make any real improvement in RC (everything depends on to how I'm feeling that day and whether I can avoid getting too caught up in random details and caveats that I swear matter but ultimately never get tested).

Off to review. PT 43 tomorrow :)
