I do think until you drill you aren't going to see a score increase.

How is the LSAT trainer for LR? I started off going -9/10 for logical reasoning, completed the LRB saw no increase then completed the first two chapters of Manhattan LR and now I consistently get -4/5.

I did a fair amount of studying last year before I got sick (turned out to be Chrohn's) but I'm tempted to just work out of Manhattan because I saw such a drastic improvement. I know Mike Kim wrote the Manahattan LR book though which is why I bought the trainer.
Can't say I'm an advocate for Voyager's route.
But hey, it apparently worked, so power to him.
My RC isn't too bad to begin with, but I'm thinking of using 7Sage's memory method,
which seems to be a more basic approach and more in line with what I'm already doing.

The LSAT Trainer, overall, is great, focusing mostly on LR and very little on RC, though I won't deny it probably helped me in RC.
That said, I think, to really have gains in RC, one would need to look elsewhere, which is why I ordered the Manhattan guide.
I'm also scoring badly on LR, so I'll be going through MLSAT after the Trainer and the Bible.
Theoretically, an entire book, from "the best of the best," dedicated to one subject should do the trick.
LGB is a good starting point, but I find it lacking in some departments... Definitely supplement with Manhattan.

134 days!

Yeah, LR for me is so damn inconsistent. I've gone -3, but most of the time I go between -5 and -7!

I haven't even begun RC yet, but on my diagnostic, June 2007, my RC score was 17/27. So clearly I have a long ways to go. The silver lining is that if I can get that RC to -5 by the end up August, I'll be easily scoring in the low-mid 160s! That will give me a great boost of confidence and motivation.

LGs is another place I am pretty inconsistent. Grouping games are my achilles heel, so once I get those down well enough, LGs are going to be smooth sailing. Barring any weird pattern games.

posted up at teahouse going over my grouping problem sets from y'day.

What's the likelihood of a grouping game w/ chart showing up? Little to none, right?

Cool, will skim over the LSAT Trainer when I get home.

I'm taking the advice given here and trying to get to -0 for logic games before anything else.

I hear you on the grouping games - I remember that Undetermined Assignment packet to be a bitch.

The Manhattan book is better than Powerscore for some people because it teaches you to break premises and conclusions down by the flow of the argument rather than indicator words.

I think if you are naturally good at math the Bible may be better but if you are good at reading and constructing/analyzing arguments Manhattan will be better.

Powerscore gives a good foundation for that section though.

Seeking a little advice from those who have used the trainer/Cambridge packets (or other Cambridge material). I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll end up using the trainer (I've already used Manhattan and Powerscore, and think this would be a nice supplement), but I hear a lot about Cambridge material, especially in regards to drilling with the packets. Where are people getting these? My understanding is that they are no longer produced but can be accessed in PDF form online, is this correct? And for those that are using the packets or any other Cambridge material, what do you see the advantages being? Thanks!

Can't get the Cambridge PDF packets online anymore :(

I use the Cambridge for my drilling. I think the advantages are the convenience of having all your drill material by type in nifty little packets. Also, it is nice to be able to print it as needed.

I think Powerscore has drill books that are pretty decent...
Thanks for the input!

Holy crap.

After going -7, -9, -11, and even -14 on RC, I just went -6 by using the memory method for the first time.

TYBG (JY). Maybe I should cancel my Manhattan RC order lol...

Congrats!

7Sage/JY's memory method is a game changer. How long did it take you to see results? I haven't gotten to the RC part of my curriculum yet. Should be there soon. though.

Well, it's still too soon since I've only applied this once on one section,
but the results are pretty telling! Plus, I actually felt condident utilizing the approach.
I was a tad skeptical initially, but I'm already convinced it's the right way to go. I'm sure you'll like it!

Just finished scoring my PT from today. I honestly thought I bombed it and was convinced I was going to have a way worse score than my diagnostic. Happy that I only dropped one point from my diagnostic (down to 153), but my blind review score went up by 5 points (to 167). At least I've learned something... and definitely will need to work on timing. The big factor in the difference between the two scores is LG, which with unlimited time and my inferior methods of diagramming I'm going -1 on BR but -10 timed. Woof.

My brain hurts and I'm glad I won't be taking another PT for a while...

**edited this, realized today that I accidentally messed up one question I entered into 7sage.

Seriously though, I am pretty excited to start trying this memory method. I'm going like -9 on RC, and if I can get that down to -4, I'll be in business.

Wow. What the hell is the point of having a powerscore if this is in play? Thank you guys!

Don't bother with PowerScore for RC. Go with Manhattan or Blueprint instead.

Debating whether to drill more today or actually start on my personal statement. Like I said I would.
Feeling sooooooooo lazy to get anything done right now... :(

Ehh.. The BP RC book is good but I didn't really see so much improvement from using it because of the heavy notation use that they want you to do. At least I think it's heavy notations.

I never read it; just like its cover lol.
But yeah, I'm not big on notating myself; however, occasional underlining can help.

Worst LG for fourth PT (-7), but best RC (-4). o_0

If the goal is going -0 in logic games how do you manage time?

If there is a must be true question do you eliminate the other answer choices? Or do you trust your answer and move on?

I've just realized with my sub diagrams that I must complete the diagrams so I can use them for that last question that pops up.

Keep doing games.
If you have LGB, do all the drills
and then do the ReChallenge repeats.
Do not time yourself in the beginning.
Once your accuracy is at a high enough level,
that's when you use a stopwatch for each game.

For MBT, if you pick an answer that seems feasible,
I would still check the others really quickly to see if they conflict or are superior.
For MBF, do not waste time eliminating. Quickly go over everything to pick the "outlier" by using the setup to your advantage.

Not always the case. If you feel like inferences have to be drawn from previous drawings, then you should go back and finish them.
However, for the most part, the initial setup and the inferences from that diagram, imo, will be the key to every single question in the game.
