My experience exactly.mist4bison wrote:I got absolutely nothing from the PS LRB. I mean I improved zero points and didn't feel like I had a grasp of the question types at all. I liked Manhattan and the Trainer for LR. I would just say screw the LR bible and move onto the trainer if that's what you have.washingtonorbust wrote:So what is the best way to improve on logical reasoning? I've been going through the powerscore bible but they seem to make everything really complex (I enjoyed the logic games book, but logical reasoning is meh). WOuld I be better off just muscling through it then going on to the lsat trainer or abandoning ship right now?
I actually really liked their LGb, too. I wonder how they got that so on point but screwed up LR so badly.

Checking in for a retake. Anyone doing an in-person prep course (Testmasters, BP, Manhattan, etc.) as a "primer" before jumping into drilling? Hoping this class is worth the money...

Nah, I would never jump ship for law school. Just the LRB
Thanks for the input, I'll go through it just a little more to see if it grows on me and if not I'll move to the LSAT trainer.

I'm finishing up a BP live course this week. Feel free to ask me any questions from a paying customer/student perspective.SweetTort wrote:mds6d wrote:Checking in for a retake. How is the BP course? Do you feel like you learned anything critical other than concepts/strategies that you find in most of the quality prep materials?nlee10 wrote:

Classes seem like a waste of time/money. I know multiple seemingly intelligent people who are still in the 150s after completing expensive prep classes, and it seems like almost all 170+ people get those high scores from self-study.

My belief exactly. Almost all of the stories of 170+ I've heard are people who think they can do it themselves and do it right.
I realize this is an overgeneralization, but if you look on Blueprint's site, it's not like everyone is boasting "170". Prep courses are really just a way for instructors to teach you the basic skills that reading a prep book such as Manhattan LSAT, Powerscore, or the LSAT Trainer could teach you just the same, in a shorter amount of time.
This is my opinion of prep courses until I've seen some solid counter examples.

So, I'm doing these Logic Games, and while I understand them I typically miss 1 near the end simply due to a stupid mistake or misreading. Is this something that goes away as you drill?

Is there any harm (other than 80 dollars) of registering for February, and then postponing if I'm not PTing in the 170's by mid-January?

Additionally, due to my inability to organize/keep track of things, I'm thinking about buying the print, bound Cambridge packets for 300 bucks. Any serious drawbacks other than not being able to print multiple copies of each game?

Not too much other than following a structured lesson plan with online hw (lots of it). I rarely work (part-time work for my family's investment business) so I thought a live course along with their vast hw would be a good structure to follow for 2 months. If I had to sum it all up, if you are able to attend 99% of the classes AND do the online hw, you will improve your score. I think BP and other reputable companies have the lessons and materials to get you to a consistent 160's+ given you do your part.UChicagoorBust wrote:How is the BP course? Losing $300? I'd just learn better organizational skills for that much money.SweetTort wrote:Additionally, due to my inability to organize/keep track of things, I'm thinking about buying the print, bound Cambridge packets for 300 bucks. Well the downloadable cambridge packets are like 220.

I'd still just get a couple binders and stay organized in exchange for $80 and unlimited printing ability.SweetTort wrote:RZ5646 wrote:Losing $300? From my experience, I think it would be more beneficial to buy the downloadable packet. Especially if you are going to do blind review and retake practice tests. I've had to unbound and scan to make copies of PTs, which was a pain in the butt.SweetTort wrote: Hmmm... I'll have to chew on this one.

That is true. I just need to find a systematic way of remembering which questions I've already drilled.
