It's not his <170 LSAT score. It's societies <170 LSAT score. We all know who's to blame here.

If only Kaplan didn't cost so damn much... Maybe you could have destroyed the LSAT and gotten into some great law schools. Alas, they won't judge you at the soup kitchen. They're good people.

To be fair, the opposing side isn't making a point based on computer literacy I gather; rather, it is about being a part of a culture of prep and success. Poor people are not members of such a culture, so (something, something, LSAT SUCKS!).

My opinion is different than the others.

It is not that the LSAT sucks, but rather the mentality behind if you work hard enough you can get a perfect score on the LSAT.

Judging by what you perceive as 'straw men arguments,' I'm unsurprised that your LSAT score was less than stellar.

The post you reacted to didn't contain an argument to begin with. At all. Hth.

The case in chief of the OP is bizarre. True, money can be used to buy test-prep and game things like the LSAT. However, aptitude tests like the LSAT still afford much greater opportunities to the talented poor than heavy-investment markers like going to an Ivy League undergrad school. So, to attack the LSAT for causing a lack of intergenerational mobility seems to be putting the cart before the horse.

dresden: Sorry about the 'ad hom', I was just kidding around. If you had scored a little higher on the LSAT, you'd have realized that.

Even though you and I seem to disagree about a lot of things, I agree with you here. It seems that no matter what, the advice on TLS to someone with below a 170 is always "retake". This does not really help people, especially when they've already done extensive prep.

Luckily for me, LSAT doesn't test ability to perceive jokes. I suppose I might have scored even lower if it did.

A lot of threads devolve into retardedness pretty quickly, but this is one of those rare gems that didn't have a point from the second it was posted.

You got two points higher than me...so yours must be stellar. Your call to action is based on a skewed interpretation of what I originally said.

Perceived point. Again, I'm talking about the idea that anyone can get a 180 with enough effort.

It just gettin' warmed up. Surely you have seen the long thread along the following lines "Chances for people with lower numbers" set up to insulate those with non-t14 numbers from criticism, and yet get info about chances. There be a class war a-brewin' here on TLS.

You got 171? What the hell are you then complaining about? Do remarks from people who think you failed miserably for scoring 9 points below 180 work you up so much that you just had to start this thread to rant to us all about it?

As for my call to action, it might be wrong, but that still doesn't convert it into an argument.

Oh, I knew that. It was just their next logical argument to against Use Google + Employ New Knowledge = LSAT Success. Also, again, as a poor, the argument that something isn't in your "culture" seems pretty cheap. Culture doesn't define motivation or personality.
