Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Time to register! New Poll!
Thanks I hear you, probably just write it off as migraines and mental fatigue/not my true performance aptitude. I suppose just get into a rhythm so I can feel better and do better. In reality a 165 isn't terrible, I am just my biggest critic and performing less than my best really frustrates me. (poor sleep and too much caffeine likely doesn't help).dj9i27 wrote:Burnouts and score dips are a thing; don't let it get you down. I take tests whenever it is convenient for me tbh, it is not ritualistic but it is what works I am trying to coach myself on the test not break myself down. As for your routine its good, personally I started waking up in increments throughout the month (week 1 8:30, week 2 7:30, week 3 6:30 week of test 5:30) just to adjust my circadian rhythm and not shock my body. Taking tests at 8 is up to you, i did not do it and even though I was sick in September, my stamina was fine (focus was broken and horrible but that’s a whole other topic).SunDevil14 wrote:I am bit concerned. I scored 165 twice following a 175 score.
I think it may be burn out, or mental fatigue. I scored the 175 taking the test earlier in the day, before working out. The two 165 tests came from performances in the late afternoon after working out (I hit weights and cardio pretty hard). I take a fair amount of caffeine in the morning/before working out, so the mental fatigue in the late afternoon may be in part from a caffeine crash/physical excursion. I have also been suffering from migraines and poor sleep schedule lately.
With a month to go before the test, should I just take a few days off then start Monday with a strict and consistent regiment?:
-Wake up around 6:30 am each day (The same time I would for the test).
-Take PT's/Start studying at 8:00 am (Same time I would take the test).
-Workout/Work later in the day (flexible work schedule).
-Get in the habit of going to bed at a reasonable time
*Perhaps the exception would be Saturday night and Sunday mornings. Sunday is my football day and would like to at least go out once a week.
Am I just overthinking things?

Same boat as you, roughly. I'm drilling RC/Lg everyday, doing alternating passages/timed secs, printing out copies of my weak games and doing them once a day. This is half my study time, half is LR. As for LR, I'm still averaging around -3/-5 a sec, hoping to get this to steady -2/-3s by Dec. And then 2-3 PTs a week, with BR.CHyde wrote:Took PT 56 in between a retake (78) to build stamina. Essentially 4 sections - 15 minute break - 4 sections.
Got a 171
lG: -1
LR: -4
LR: -4
RC: -1
What is everyone's plan this month for their weakest section? Historically LG and RC are not kind to me but steady drilling has helped. Now worried about LR. The misses were all over the place. Tips/Suggestions?
Str/wkn/Flaw Qs are still my weakest link, so every question I miss I write out a written explanation of why I missed/how I could have gotten it right, and then drill 5x of the question type (hard questions, in the teens/20s) for every one that I miss, also writing out explanations. During this time, I also keep a list of relevant patterns in the stimulus/ACs that I see.
I like your idea of putting a retake in between a PT, think I will start doing this once a week. Focus is still my biggest worry, so trying to dial that in before D-Day. Nice work on the 171!

Did you take one of the free trials or the premium programs?Deardevil wrote:I read PowerScore, Manhattan, and LSAT Trainer twice, then 7Sage. In that order.Barack O'Drama wrote: Remind me again what you used for LR? (MLSAT? Powerscore? 7Sage?) And how many you missed on your diagnostic?

7Sage helped out the most, methinks, especially with strengthen/weaken and sufficient/necessary assumptions.

I'm firmly convinced the curve for Sept got a little screwed by the answer pattern on the fourth game. That said, I would have still been unhappy and vastly underperformed even with another point on the raw conversion.

Shook out some of the RC cobwebs tonight- PT63 untimed for -0. Going to do some LR tomorrow (in addition to my daily LG). Then Sunday will be my first full test since that infamous September day.

Shit! no i didn't. Last year's September test prob wasn't as brutal. how many in total including Sept + Dec for both years? I'd imagine, in sum, they are around the same and not total +15%.dj9i27 wrote:i hope this means that the people who apply in January aren't hindered too much. prayers to the lsac gods for a merciful December test.Pozzo wrote:You guys see December registrants are up 15% from last year?!

Oooof had a big dip taking a late night PT, was at 167/168 for my previous three PTs down to 161.... lots of dumb LR mistakes.

Total takers up 1% in Sept, but first timers down 0.4%. The bump for December probably has something to do with Sept being so hard and having the registration deadline before scores came out. I'm definitely rethinking my application strategy now though.jagerbom79 wrote:Shit! no i didn't. This is exactly what I asked Spivey about. The Sep tests, including the undisclosed ones, were really difficult and that's showing with the huge increase in Dec retakers. 15% is ridiculously high. The app cycle will definitely get pushed back since a ton of ppl will be applying after Dec scores come out. The question is though, does that mean you're in a better position applying early? Really not sure about that and would appreciate what you guys have to say about that.Pozzo wrote:Total takers up 1% in Sept, but first timers down 0.4%. Just did LG 40, zephyr airlines is wayyyy easier than people make it out to be. I think on misc games like that, people way overthink it.

Yeah I'm sure if youre one of the only people with a 170+ and they're seeing a lot less 170's then you're probably in a better position than you would be otherwise. Especially for ED.StopLawying wrote:This is exactly what I asked Spivey about. I think a lot of that hinges on what the score distribution is like this year. Harder tests but with a more generous curve could mean that things don't change much from the usual patterns. However, a high score might be looked upon more favorably later if it turns out that the harder tests meant a drop in high scorers this year.StopLawying wrote:This is exactly what I asked Spivey about.
