Guess I'll review 70 tomorrow! Thanks for the advicedosto5 wrote:I think that depends how aware you are of what went wrong on test day. If you know exactly what happened (e.g., Bee and her logic game section) then I'd say hold off because the benefit you'd get from early review wouldn't outweigh that of having a fresh-ish PT closer to test day. But if you really can't pinpoint what happened (say you felt great about the whole thing but ended up with a score which was miles away from how you felt) then I'd say review. Reviewing it early in this instance would benefit you more than taking it closer to test day since it'd give you a better idea of the kind of errors you make under pressure and what you can mentally prepare for.PourMeTea wrote:Dosto/bbkk, should I be in the review 70 sooner rather than later camp?
eta me, personally, I bombed LR2 and am not sure why I did so poorly on it (I knew it was tough, but not THAT tough) but I'm still holding off on reviewing. If I felt fine about it during the test but bombed, I'd look at it immediately.

Re: December 2013 Retakers
so I took my first PT since October 2013, and this is a retake (took it 2 months ago) of my worst preptest during last prep.
Original PT60 breakdown: 165 (LR1:-4; LR2: -4; LG:-4; RC: -7)
PT 60 retake breakdown: 175 (LR: -1; LR2: -2; LG:-1; RC: -2)
I was able to finish LR's with ~3min to spare, LG with 5 min to spare but RC I somehow managed to rush in the end. Although, I ran out time on RC the first time I took this test.
I'm very skeptical about the score since I think I remembered some stuff, and I'm not terribly happy that I didn't manage to get perfect on any section despite it being a retake.
Does anyone know by how much your retake PT score is going to be inaccurate? It really sucks I don't have any fresh tests to really gauge if I actually improved since last prep :S

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Retake scores are definitely inflated (usually by at least 3 points imo), but many people have said that after doing several retakes and nothing else their scores on fresh material increased and were somewhat close to retake scores.esther0123 wrote:so I took my first PT since October 2013, and this is a retake (took it 2 months ago) of my worst preptest during last prep.

I ran out of material for a bit when I started scoring 173 consistently, I retook several tests, averaged around 178 on those, and when I got a new set of tests my scores were consistently around 175-176. I think you should expect inflation, but retakes are definitely valuable.

Hmm didn't know previously unlisted centers could pop up; I'll definitely keep checking. Thanks for the tip!SteelPenguin wrote: I had the same problem with Oct. Tried to sign up in early August, and center was unavailable. I kept checking, and 2 days before drop date, it opened up with limited availability, along with an altogether previously unlisted center. Keep checking and good luck!

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Just finished retaking PT41 and got -0 on the entire test for a 180 and -1 on PT1 RC Exp. Considering this was my first ever PT and I got a 164 on it, this makes me super happy even if it was a retake

Nope, second but with 30 minute sections. I got a 177 (my second highest during pre-Oct studying) on it before, so I actually wasn't going to take it again, but I wanted it done for the group review today. It's good practice anyway I guess even though the score means nothing.dosto5 wrote:First take? Either way, great job.

Yep! I didn't realize it was considered high though since I've never had a frame of reference. I did do abnormally well on one LR section (-1), which I didn't even get close to for many, many PTs after that.bee wrote:are you saying your diag was 164? if so, damn that is a high diag.melodygreenleaf wrote:Considering this was my first ever PT and I got a 164 on it

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Eh diagnostic scores are meaningless anyway if they're below 170; they're just benchmarks on how much you have left to study. From what I remember lurking in the October's study thread, it seems like you've mastered the material, which is the only thing that matters in the endbee wrote: idk, i guess i consider any diag in the mid to high 160s to be pretty high. i diaged at 157 :oops

Me too. I'm just about to start PT 57 now since PT 45 took forever to review, what with all the confounding misreads I had in LR. I will probably be able to get in towards the middle or end of the section but cannot give 100% guarantee. Sorry.becs wrote:I'm not going to be able to make it to the 8 pm review - sorry for the short notice!

All the uncertainty of test day...is not something I feel this time around. I highly doubt I'll suck as much as -9 for LR again, which was a rarity given my PT averages, and I should do better than -5 RC, since -5 was the bottom of my RC range.dosto5 wrote:Well, if it's any consolation to those of you going in for second takes, I think they're usually considered the easier ones. You have the experience of the first but not the do-or-die pressure of the third. Not going to kill the nerves but anything helps.

i did the lg section once before as part of blueprint prep in... august... maybe? i cant remember, and only dimly recognized what was going on during the actual section. everything else is 100% fresh. havent so much as touched an lsat q since oct 5th and i DEFINITELY felt it. i finished lr1 with no real time for review (unusual for me), and 2/3 questions i missed i didnt even circle (both were heinously dumb mistakes). the last q i missed was #24, which i was actually in the midst of changing to the correct answer as time was called. i counted it as wrong, since the scantron machine most likely would've counted it was incorrect.
i was extremely sluggish during all the sections and kind of caught off guard in general. thought i would score low 170s at best. hope this feeling recedes soon
damn. nice.

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Needa crowdsource some insight, and you folks are a smart crowd:
1. I took the test in Feb and noticed that, unlike in PTs, I was re-reading and re-re-reading the stimulus (in LR) or rules (in LG) often because of nerves/OMFG this is the real thing/dont-make-a-stupid-error. How can this be overcome? I guess the ideal situation is increasing “bank” time in PTs to take into account the re-reading on test day.
2. What do you guys do to warm-up before a PT? I once did 2 sections, which definitely burned me out. I usually do a page from the middle of an old lR section and an LG.
Thanks !!

What are your thoughts on using manhattan LR and then the trainer for RC and general LG review? Do the methods conflict?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
