My name's Travis and I've been tutoring the LSAT off and on for about 10 years. I check this forum regularly and would be happy to answer anyone's questions about specific problems, pacing, test day concerns, etc...

I got my JD from NYU in 2009 and have been living in Northern California for the past 7 years. I work for a company called Magoosh, writing an online prep course for the LSAT.

Here's my blog: https://magoosh.com/lsat. It's in its infancy, so there's not a ton to look at right now, but I'll be updating it regularly with helpful info. If you have any burning questions that you'd like to see addressed in the blog, give me a heads up.

Thanks, good luck, and happy studying!

when did you last take lsat? the test has changed a bit over the years and there seems to be a subtle shift in lr and rc.

What helped me with these was graphing them. If you graph it like a logic game, it becomes clear what HAS to occur.
I am diagramming them but i'm having problems with diagramming conditional logic. Like some of the words confuse me so then I don't know how to graph it or what i'm looking for in the answer :|
MBT questions can be hard sometimes. I think I've improved a little on MBT questions simply from doing the diagrams as the powerscore bible teaches and just from gaining familiarity with the test through practice. But what I think has helped me the most is that I've improved so much on every other question type, that I can do the rest of the section fast enough to be able to afford testing every answer choice on any MBT question where I can't identify the answer immediately.

Is there anyone else who has been admitted to a few places, but is retaking to get in from a waitlist? Or am I just as much of a weirdo that my friends have told me I am? Either way, anyone in NYC want to study group?

I've heard a few people retaking the test after getting in somewhere in order to get more scholarship money. I don't think it's necessarily weird to try to retake & get in somewhere if you're already on their waitlist; as long as you're not getting rid of all your other options & putting your eggs in one basket.

Yeah, I'm visiting places and going to put in a deposit somewhere I would be happy with if Operation LSAT Score Myself Off the Waitlist doesn't workout. I'm at the median and had been averaging 5 points higher in October because I had a day of Murphy's Law, so I think it's possible if I work hard and prepare to have my watch break, a confused proctor, tiny desk, etc. I'm just happy to hear that this strategy is not as ridiculous as I've been told it is.

Believe me, I've heard far more ridiculous reasons as to why some people retake the test than what you've described.

The wording of some strengthen and most strongly supported questions confuse me sometimes :(
Specifically when worded like this:

Strengthen: Which one of the following, if true, most strongly supports the explanation above?
MSS: The information above most strongly supports which one of the following?

I see the distinction, but I always get confused D:

I got better at MSS though. Reviewing MBT using 7Sage sometime this week. Hopefully I'll get it this time or I'm gonna give up!

In general I am pretty fast with all other question types so I can spend more time on MBT. I just need to get better at MBT so I can actually answer those a little faster too. Will look over both 7Sage and powerscore to review MBT questions. Thanks for the advice!

I'm working on weaken questions right now, but in the 7Sage lesson for it for the causal part, JY goes over some strengthen questions. The way he explains it is MSS questions expect you to find something that proves out the stimulus, while Strengthen questions are looking at the answer choices, "which one of the following, if true, most strongly supports the info?

I haven't hit the strengthen questions, but I guess when doing a mixed drill i.e. PT see what area you want to focus on the stimulus or the answer choices.. HTH!

Didn't BR yet, just peeked at the score, so we'll see if there's any significant difference. I've got all my PTs (29-38, 52-present), LSAT Trainer is on its way, and I have the Manhattan set of books, LG, LR, and RC. Ready to work through 7sage's curriculum and start PTing regularly. I'm working full-time in a professional salaried position so we'll see how the speed goes and what my PTs are looking like as we draw closer. I'd *like* to test in June but with the scores I want, preferably a 173, I may have to wait. Anyway hi.
Seems like we're in a similar boat :). I took June 07 in December after reading powerscore LG and little LR over the summer and got a 158. I don't think I can study enough in time for June so I'll probably take in September. Here is a post you might like where I ask the TLS community about my 158 diagnostic score: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 6&t=257440

The games keep getting less and less painful with more practice. Now, I'll finish a game and feel like I missed every question, then review and go -0 or -1. Keep on trucking.

TheMikey wrote: I took a free workshop with Manhattan once. When they spoke about logic games the instructor split the game board. I haven't looked at Manhattan's LG book but I'm guessing since the instructor split the game board up, it should be the way the book teaches it as well.
i never used the splitting, as i always thought that splitting the game and enumerating possibilities wastes time. instead, i'd always mark on the main diagram that the variable could go to different positions and then use it to draw any question specific diagrams.

will probably take a look at manhattan to see if it's any use.

So far as I go through the lessons I am doing really well in LG's. I would have to say that it is the easiest and most learnable part of the LSAT. How are you doing with LG? Let me know if you ever need help with any practice problems! I'm currently working on overbooked/underbooked games. Or at least that is what Blueprint calls them lol.

Currently working the 7sage method through every logic game from PT1-36. Currently on the simple ordering-- lord, give me 4 of these on test day.
