Do you guys have advice on what to when completely stuck drilling an LG game?
Is it best to muscle through it, or to refer to 7Sage and redo later?

Some days are like that, and i'm sorry today was tough--you have time though, and tomorrow is a new day, you got this!GnosisExchange wrote:This--the reason I'm desperate for a 177+.MrBalloons wrote:I think TLS is pretty splitter-heavy, though. A 170 definitely wouldn't get me into most T14 schools. But a 174 probably would. So there's a reason for the madness.RZ5646 wrote:Actually, when making that poll, I was struck by how low most of the medians really are. Here in LSAT obsession land, everybody's talking about getting deep 99th percentile scores, but just a 170 will get you into most T14 schools, and even a high 160s score would probably score a couple T14s. 173, which some of us would consider a mediocre PT score, will all but guarantee you admission at almost every school, as long as you have a matching GPA. So let's remember that next time we have to talk someone down from the ledge because they had a "massive score drop" and got 170ish on a PT.kbrizz wrote:Wow after seeing these poll results, maybe I'm not dreaming big enough lol...
On another note, I had one of those days when things are great and then your confidence gets destroyed. Right after breakfast I did a LR section and finished with 8 minutes to spare. I got -0, but on BR got -1. It really annoyed me because I figured out why the wrong answers are wrong, but still don't think the correct answer is fully justified by the stimulus (MBT). I killed a few LGs and was feeling great, but then one--a basic ordering game, no less--destroyed me. It made me feel like I was back at square one.
I feel y'all on the 177+ mindset though. My GPA is above below the median at my dream school, and they will be receiving my ridiculously low study abroad GPA so I'll take my points where I can get them.

It's good to have this perspective every now and then. Thanks for that.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:Sobering thought for the day.
Went to the county fair. Go over to get the 21+ Wristband for booze, and there are these two guys running the desk. One is training the other, who is in some way mentally impaired (seemed like he had Down Syndrome).
Anyway so the trainer guy is like "hey I'm going to let him put the wristband on". The trainee obviously struggles with it. It's a normal wristband like you get at any concert, with the gluey ends.
Anyway after some fiddling he gets it, and he's just brimming. Biggest smile on his face, happiest guy at the fair. I smile, walk away, don't really even think twice. Not the first time I've seen something like that, and frankly it's hot and I want beer.
Couple hours later I'm thinking about my day tomorrow, how I'm going to take a PT in the am. Get excited for it. And it just hits me.
I'm pissed about the 165 I got in June, 91st percentile, and it literally made someone's day today just to be able to put a wristband on.
It's great to want to do well, and it's great that some of us are. But make sure to take a moment and be proud of yourself that this is even in the conversation.
Also woo. That was 100. I have no clue how to post pics.

I have a few games in my binder that I got through one question, realized my setup was wrong, didn't know how to correct it, and just wrote "relearn" really big at the top and stopped.kbrizz wrote:Do you guys have advice on what to when completely stuck drilling an LG game?

Usually I just print out 4 or 5 more copies of that game, watch 7sage, and try again the next day.

About to take a PT and figure out how all this drilling is going--- fun stuff indeed. I haven't gotten to the PT every day stage of studying yet, and i'm not looking forward to it haha

That makes sense. My university is small, less than 8,000 total for undergrad and grad students.gamerish wrote:It really wasn't difficult.Sera Numquam wrote:How did you manage to swing that?gamerish wrote:I'm going into my senior year never having taken a class before 12:30.Sera Numquam wrote:I don't do mornings so I'm very concerned about the 8 am test time. People agonize over a lot of stupid shit here on TLS, but I feel like time might actually be an important factor.
My natural sleep schedule is like 4am to noon. I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do with an 8:00 am test time.
I'm gonna be getting up earlier as we get closer to the test date but I still don't think I'll be at 100% and I've had bad results caffeinating right before a PT.
I'm so fucked for the real world.
Gen ed classes tend to be the earliest morning classes at my school but I didn't have to take any of those because of AP credit.
I also go to one of the largest schools in the country so I guess we have a lot more available classes than the average university.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
not happy with my performance for PT 45. I did end up doing better in LR2 than LR1... LR1 was a dumpster fire.
I need to get better at this damn test
I think I'm going to start incorporating an untimed LR dummy section and a couple of simple games prior to taking PT's. That ought to get the juices flowing.

Has anyone else just stopped and given up in the middle of a PT? The LR section of PT 40 absolutely wrecked me and it's super messing with my mental state for the rest of it.

Took PT 48 this morning. I thought this was a pretty difficult one due to the game types and RC passages.
LR1: -4
LG: -1
RC: -3
LR2: -3
After grading it I was feeling a lot better until I looked at the conversion chart. Only a -7 curve.

^^ thank yaaaa! except in this situation I skipped an entire game and then ran out of time on the last game. oof. Going to redo this PT tomorrow and go back to drilling today, just seeing that PT right now makes me want to jump off a cliff hahaSirArthurDayne wrote:I remember one of those sections being hard when I did it a few weeks ago. You just have to keep pushing the pace. Dont let one or two questions discourage you. If you can't figure it out, circle it and move on. You just have to keep going. And if you do skip a question, put all of your focus on the new question. Also make sure you BR the shit out of it.ariaaaa wrote:Has anyone else just stopped and given up in the middle of a PT? Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
In the weird position where I wrote the June sitting, did terribly and I'm doing doing a prepcourse. Wrote PT 69 today and scored a 157 which turns out to be 6 marks higher than my test day score. Went -7 and -9 on LR, -10 on RC (thought I actually killed it at first) and -6 on LG. Aiming to get under -7 on every section next time I write a PT (probably next Saturday).
Studying for June I did a bunch of random PTs and sections (20+), and I'm not 100% sure whether I did this one or not. I don't think I answered any if at all questions straight from memory on this, but I'm wondering if this was actual progress or just my subconscious kicking in on certain questions.
