Re: The Official September 2014 Study Group
I'm tempted to, but I'm not looking forward to the idea of retaking (especially with only a month and a half left to study) only a week after finals when I'm taking 23 hours this semester and another 23 next semester; took a year off from school due to surgery. The regional school I'm looking at is less than 20k a year and money is not an issue; plus I think I may be able to get some scholarship money out of it anyways. The only thing that makes me tempted is because I got a 30 my first time taking the ACT and decided not to retake which bit me in the ass down the road.schmelling wrote:a cold 161 when sick should not be what you submit. you can hit 173+ relatively easily and you shouldn't waste that opportunity. At the very least you could get way more scholly to the same regional.Monster1776 wrote:That awkward moment when I'm ecstatic to find out I got a 161 and everyone else is in disbelief how they scored so low with the same score lol. It was my first test I went in cold on but I had had mono and was so miserable that I ended up having to completely Christmas tree the last logic game because I ran out of time, but I'm only gunning for a regional school so I'm happy I don't need to retake in December. Still feel awkward as shit being on here though lmfaoBlockofcheese wrote:What a test.
Congrats to those of you who exceeded your expectations.

Oh yeah dude, if you took on Monday then I'd most definitely expect it the day after. Hope you get the score you wantjs1663 wrote:Ok thanks, seems like that's the case. Just had a look at the September 2014 LG section. Couldn't resist the temptation and did the section timed. The first three games were quite easy, I finished each game in less than 7 minutes. The last one was a bit tough though, took me 11 minutes.

I got my second 166, last time it was 5 points above my average, this time it's 5 points below. The problem for me is that I only have two options- lower t14 or TTT
maybe I'll wait another year and see if we can move... Yesterday I was shocked, and today the reality has really dawned on me- I studied for the last 3 months with 0 improvement. What a slap in the face! Now need to man up and get ready for December.

Got mine around 8:30pm but the email had a timestamp of 5:34pm. You'd think LSAC was government own by the way it poorly functions... All the money they rob us of and they cant even figure out how to update their crappy test scoring system.

It sounds like a new study strategy might be helpful. Check out this guide if you haven't already, and best of luck! http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 6&t=195603cpamom wrote:I got my second 166, last time it was 5 points above my average, this time it's 5 points below. 168 in June with a PT average of 173, and just got a 174 in September. Awesome, awesome feeling. If you didn't do well as you wanted, hit the books hard.

Were you PTing much higher before the September test?jimmymac wrote:168 in June with a PT average of 173, and just got a 174 in September. Awesome, awesome feeling. If you didn't do well as you wanted, hit the books hard.
I dropped six points from my PT mode (not my average, because that was actually a few points higher). By that logic, I would need to score consist 180s to ensure a 174. I'm thinking that's a no go.
Can everyone who retook explain what they did differently this time? It'd be super helpful in decided how to proceed.

Re: The Official September 2014 Study Group
Not really- probably around a 175 but I had already seen all the tests that I was taking. I used the LSAT trainer and found that really helpful for retaking. also I read a few books with the purpose of reading for the LSAT. I think that helped a lot. The second time around I was much calmer at the test site which I think made a big difference as well. Finally, I went down to 30 minutes for each section except RC, and on test day I followed that time frame, finishing both LRs with around 6 minutes left for each.sfoglia wrote:Were you PTing much higher before the September test?jimmymac wrote:168 in June with a PT average of 173, and just got a 174 in September. Someone make a "September Does December" thread, or a "September Take 2" thread, or whatever TF you want to call it.

Got a 173 after a 173 and a fxxking 165...
...At least proved that 165 is a troll.
Shouldn't bother retaking at all.

Should I retake?
Hi all,
New to this site, but thought maybe you guys would have good advice.
I just took the LSAT for the first time in September. My PT's were 177-180 all through September, and never below a 175 since August. I got a 173 on the test. It looks like I choked on RC and got -5 (usually never more than -2 on PTs). Should I retake? I know a 173 is a great score and good enough for most of my schools, and I'm afraid if I wait until January to apply my chances will be much worse if I don't score 176+ the second time around. Plus, I was really nervous during the test, and I'm afraid I'll choke again the second time around. More background, I have a 3.7 and come from a low Ivy with a few years of somewhat interesting work experience. I think my essay and recs are strong.
I was aiming for Harvard after months of never getting more than 4 wrong on PT's, but was planning on applying to all T14s. I think I should still be good everywhere but HYS and maybe Chicago/UVA, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot with a score that's not my best. What should I do?
