Re: Have you ever had your IQ tested?
this humble bragging is the worst
i scored like a 115 or something and couldn't even get into gifted classes. my parents made up some lie about how i couldn't be in gifted because of my birthday or something so i wouldn't feel bad. and let's be honest I'm clearly a genius.

Re: Have you ever had your IQ tested?
I'm surprised at how easy it is to get into MENSA: http://www.us.mensa.org/AML/?LinkServID ... 4A1AC31D#3
They don't take the SAT anymore, but they take an ACT of 29, which according to the ACT company is equivalent to an SAT score of only 1940/2400 or 1300/1600 (which was the MENSA cutoff back when they still accepted the SAT).
They used to accept a junior year PSAT score of only 180.
For the LSAT you only have to be 95th percentile, which is 167 or 168.
Not that I have any intention of joining MENSA lol.

Uhg, just saw and read this *cough *cough aMaZziNg thread.Grond wrote:I should call Jeffort and get him in this amazing thread.

I don't really care about the personal friction between Brute and ReasonableMan, but I'm a bit surprised and dismayed at the hostile attitudes and attacks against them and downbeat14 and LSAT tutors/prep providers pretty universally for accepting $$ from anyone that doesn't appear up front from inherently limited first impressions as being close to a sure thing for potentially hitting a high LSAT score and getting a T14 acceptance. People that start with a diag score in the high 150s or 160s generally don't seek out paid tutoring or expensive prep classes.
As Brute has said and I agree, there is a lot of sliminess in the LSAT prep biz with many (but not all!) ethically questionable commercial prep providers and tutors. There are a lot of slimy/unethical people in the biz focused almost entirely on their $$ interest without much regard for the ultimate short or long term goals/outcome/benefits/lack thereof that their customers end up with.
However, I don't really understand why others personally attacked first downbeat14, then ReasonableMan and Brute for making some $$ in the LSAT tutoring biz charging reasonable rates far below what the big name companies charge.
None of the three are spammers or commercial promotional purposes only posters/abusers of TLS/the LSAT forum like several entities with threads in the 'Free advice from Professionals' subforum that those entities pay to get listed/shadowed in this LSAT forum thread index mainly during the hot $$ making new student enrollment times during the year leading up to each LSAT administration.
All three of them post pretty good answers and advice in various threads for free without trying to promote/sell their services and without posting links to their web pages to overtly try to sell more product like some other entities/posters do here on the forum frequently.
Why not criticize the blatant mainly commercial purposes only LSAT prep teacher/tutor posters for posting here mainly just to try to get as many people as possible to spend a few hundred or thousand+ $$ on LSAT prep products/services instead of these three guys that answer students questions freely in their spare time without trying to sell them something?
Geeze... at least pick the right/guilty targets for these types of attacks!

Are LSAT tutors physically unable to write a short post? Reasonable man, brut, jeffort, I could go on.

It's not a physical thing, it's purely mental! The answer is no, this post is proof.Mal Reynolds wrote:Are LSAT tutors physically unable to write a short post? Reasonable man, brut, jeffort, I could go on.
