On the subject of prep, do you guys save practice materials you've used? If so, how do you bind it?

Do you organize it in any sort of way? I guess I"m just wondering what the benefit is of keeping all of the prep material from month to month.

I bought file folders instead of dividers, cut them in half, hole punched, and used those to separate the types. It was way cheaper considering the # of question types. I haven't really looked back at saved materials and don't know if I will. I think at some point I'll reprint all of the questions I got incorrect on the first go, but I just circle those in the answer key and as such really only need to save that sheet.
So, in short, I don't have to save if I don't want to?

I'd keep them to review once and then throw them away or toss them in a drawer. Once you've thoroughly reviews your mistakes and recorded your score you'll probably never need them again. Btw if you don't yet have a massively complex spreadsheet to keep track of your PTs with fields for each section, time of day, test site, what you had for breakfast, etc., that's a fun way to procrastinate and will keep all your stuff organized.

Lol, I'm just gonna be drilling for a while, and I'll take a PT again once I get LG down. Until then any score is gonna be way off.

Yeah, I was just gonna get on to say that this last week killed any sort of studying I intended to do. Sigh. Here we go again!Motivator9 wrote: did anyone have their study routine screwed up due to the holiday break. I was planning on using my time to study at the library but all the ones close to me were only opened for a few hours; that made for a great excuse to not study. Back at it today, trying to stay focused!

Would it be beneficial to (in this order)
- work through LG Bible
- work through Manhattan LR
- work through LSAT Trainer while drilling/PTing?

Count me in for getting ready for the June 2015 exam.
My schedule is being based off of PithyPike's schedule and the notes by Daily_Double and TLS1776.
So far my LG and LR need help so I have the LSAT Trainer to help with the LR and the PS Games bible to help.
So far my first PT diagnostic was a 153 and I left some questions blank so there's definitely room for improvement. I am scheduled to take another PT on 12/11.

That guy was my inspiration (I've read his guide literally 5+ times) until I realized he had massive amounts of free time on his hands. I could probably get a 180 too if I had nothing to do for an entire year except sporadic substitute teaching. Also, apparently he never even went to law school, inexplicably trading that HCCN auto-acceptance for a string of entry-level office and technology jobs.jvh42 wrote:TLS1776.

This. I feel like the gap between a 173-175 is INSANELY far from a 180 in regards to hours put in.

It's also only marginally beneficial. If you're above a school's 75th they aren't going to care how far above you are... actually you might even end up getting YP'd at low-ranked schools.SweetTort wrote:RZ5646 wrote:That guy was my inspiration (I've read his guide literally 5+ times) until I realized he had massive amounts of free time on his hands. I think a 180 is also about luck to some degree, even if you've mastered the skills. For example, I read about the guy who founded Testmasters, and he took the LSAT 26 times, only getting a 180 half the time, more or less randomly.
Finally, it's well known that tests like this are least useful and reliable at the ends of the bell curve.

Honestly, my ideal outcome would be Dillard/Mordecai, and my GPA is a 4.2x, so if I can get a 172/173 on this test it'd be a miracle.
Also, I'm thumbing through the logic games bible, and things make SO MUCH MORE SENSE WITH GRAPHS. I was trying to do it all in my head on my diagnostic.

Sounds like we're in rather similar situations: my GPA will also be over 4.0 and I'm also looking for a full ride at a T14. Not sure what the requirements are for that but I feel like 173 or higher would get us consideration at least.
However, idk about you but I'm definitely in the "weak softs" category, so I'm going to try for 175+.

For Dillard/Mordecai/Northwestern, it seems like a 4.0/172 are the magic numbers. And yeah, as a K-JD, my softs are going to be fairly weak, and they're mainly focused in one area. But I figure if you get these two numbers, you'll be looking at a full tuition scholarship SOMEWHERE in the lower t14.
But yeah, shoot for the stars. Hopefully we both have good cycles.

So could you all help me with a question?
I'm a bit lost as to how one drills in conduction with prep books. Do you go question type by question type, completing ALL the Cambridge packets? Or do you just do it until you have a good enough feel for it, and then move on to the next question type?

I do the latter so I can save some to drill my weaknesses after taking PTsSweetTort wrote:So could you all help me with a question?

So, if I'm using the Cambridge packets, would it be a problem to just do it numerically, since it goes from easiest to hardest? Like, if I do 1-10 and feel good, isn't that deceptive since those are the easiest 10?

Good points both made here. I agree that once you're over the 75th percentile you're golden at most top schools. Shame that the guy never went to law school though.RZ5646 wrote:It's also only marginally beneficial. I do have a large amount of time on my hands per week but nothing like that guy's.

So what is the best way to improve on logical reasoning? I've been going through the powerscore bible but they seem to make everything really complex (I enjoyed the logic games book, but logical reasoning is meh). WOuld I be better off just muscling through it then going on to the lsat trainer or abandoning ship right now?
