Both 58 (September) and 59 (December) had "replace a rule" questions. It appears to be a new trend and should be/should have been noted as such.tomwatts wrote:Are you thinking of something like PT 41's question 7, in which we change a rule and then see what the result is? That's kind of different. They just give a new rule and ask what the effect is. What we've been doing in the past year is trying to find a new rule that would have the same effect. They're obviously related, but they're not really the same.bakemono wrote:the replace a rule has been done like 10-15 times in lsat history...guess you just didn't take enough tests?
I can't immediately come up with any examples of something exactly like PT 57's question 5 or 58's question 23 from before PT 57. Can anyone else?

Well, yeah, of course. So did 57. Every test for the past year has done this. But the point is, it's a new trend. It's not as though they've had a million of these before.keg411 wrote:Both 58 (September) and 59 (December) had "replace a rule" questions. BZZZT! Wrong.bakemono wrote:s0ph1e2007 wrote:-14 would mean 4 wrong for a 180??
is that what december had? thats crazy awesome!!
anyways...
so I have an average on about 30 tests of a 180 and I got owned by the LG on this test. Im pretty pissed about it.
The people who keep saying it was easy, just time consuming, I dont think get what we mean by 'hard'.
If it takes so long that you struggle to finish or dont have enough time to feel confident about an answer that makes it 'hard'.
I thought it was hard because 1. some of the questions felt out of the blue, I'd never seen them before (I think I've seen the replace a rule like once before maybe) and 2. I felt insanely pressed for time. On my first section when they called 5 minutes I almost raised my hand to protest that they clearly only gave us 30 minutes

I wasnt saying it had never been a question before just not something common that i was familliar with. Definitely have not been 15 of these (I agree, you are confusing the replace a rule for a similar effect question with the general replace a rule question).
I did do all the PTs through 58 although I did 58 pretty early just to make sure that the older ones i was doing were similar enough to the new ones to be worth doing.
I wasn't just underprepared. I was actually very prepared and think I did very well. I just wouldnt be surprised if I got that question wrong because I didn't feel prepared for it.
I'm not worrying anymore. I would encourage everyone to not worry about it anymore too. Not only doesnt it help, but after so long, it's unlikely you clearly remember the LG section anymore.

Mathematically, I call BS. If you took 30 practice test and averaged 180, that means you scored 180 on all 30 practice tests. You did not say you did that, and in addition that would make you the best LSAT taker ever. If you are really a 180 scorer, you would never say you "averaged" perfect on 30 tests.s0ph1e2007 wrote:Ha, um okJasonR wrote:So you made a 180 on 30 prep tests that you timed and scored honestly and accurately? Whatever you say.
Anyways, just trying to join the consensus that this test's LG was surprisingly time consuming. They stank.
