Water is also pretty fun.

Bear in mind that I use the term "setup" very loosely. I've never done a grouping game in my life, so going -2 on one earlier was a pleasant surprise. Flipping through this forum and finding 7Sage are also two things I'm glad I did before getting into prep. Will be diving in this week with some diagramming, probably.Tycho wrote:I honestly thought I botched the grouping games, but apparently did well enough with my rudimentary setup (I've just done a bit of linear sequencing thus far) to get at least the first 3-4 Qs on each right.

Yeah, was strictly timed. However, like Tycho, I did read some chapters of the Trainer beforehand. Just casual reading before bed, I didn't actually sit down and study.Dirigo wrote:Was it timed?179orBust wrote:What about a 154? That's what I scored on my diagnostic and I always thought it sucked.
Kind of hard to judge since it wasn't a cold diagnostic, but a 154 doesn't suck if you're just starting out.179orBust wrote:Yeah, was strictly timed. Doing the same thing, trying to get in some studying now. Wanna make a prediction? I have the hawks beating the pats 31-21. Very confident they'll win.The Abyss wrote:My cold diagnostic (no prep material whatsoever and timed) was 148. My last few PTs before December were 17-20 points higher than that with some modest studying, and then I significantly under performed on the actual test. I'm going all out for June, exhausting all my prep material, and shooting for a 173+.
That said, I'm up early studying and drilling. Getting it done now so that I can grill and watch the Superbowl later. Chicken wings, grilled shrimp avocado boats, deviled eggs, sweet potato fries, and veggies with homemade ranch dip are on the menu. No beer or bourbon until after the test, though.
I have the Pats 24-21. This is the tightest Superbowl match up according to Vegas lines, as the Pats are currently a -1 favorite. That's basically a toss up. Yeah, the lines are just an indication of how people are betting, but they seem to be somewhat good predictors of the quality of the game. It's going to be a good one I reckon.179orBust wrote:Doing the same thing, trying to get in some studying now. Wanna make a prediction? I have the hawks beating the pats 31-21. I'm looking forward to it. A Hawks victory would not surprise me, but I guess a Pats victory really wouldn't either. Let's hope it's a bit more exciting than last year's (i.e. not a botched snap on the second play resulting in a safety). I'd guess less than a seven-point spread. The Abyss wrote:I have the Pats 24-21. This is the tightest Superbowl match up according to Vegas lines, as the Pats are currently a -1 favorite. I wouldn't say 154 is terrible. Before mine, the only thing I had been exposed to was diagramming for a simple pure sequencing game. I was just pleased that I was able to finish everything on time and manage a score that wasn't absolutely dismal, then improve that score into the 160s without going straight the answers (per the advice on 7Sage). That said, I've got a bit of work to do--but I'm confident a score in the mid-to-high 170s is well within my capability.Dirigo wrote:Kind of hard to judge since it wasn't a cold diagnostic, but a 154 doesn't suck if you're just starting out.

IMO that's way too much. I think all you need is enough to get the blood flowing. Put it this way: When I start drilling, I normally just jump right into it. If its LR, normally its not until after the first 5 qs that I feel "in the groove" so to speak. For RC, not until the second passage, same for games. I think you wanna do enough to hit that point but not more. So for me, it'll be a game or two, maybe an RC passage, and 5-10 LRs. Anyone else have thoughts?RZ5646 wrote:What do you guys do for pre-PT warmups?

I don't do warmups before my PTs, but I really should start. I would probably do 1 LG, 1 RC passage, and 5-10 LR questions. I would want to keep things easy and maybe even questions I did before.RZ5646 wrote:What do you guys do for pre-PT warmups?

What's your problem with in/out grouping, specifically? When I first started this game type, I had issues with the conditional logic. Now these games are my favorite because JY does a great job of showing when rules trigger vs. when they fall away. If the chain is A-->B--->/C, you know that if A is in, B is also in, but C is out. You also know that if C is in, both B and A are out.SweetTort wrote:Does anyone else really struggle with in/out grouping? I've been drilling them for a long time and I still can't seem to grasp it. Like, 7sage always "splits the board" fifty different ways, and none of these options seem apparent until I'm reviewing.
Huh? When does 7sage split the board with in-out?SweetTort wrote:Does anyone else really struggle with in/out grouping? I've been drilling them for a long time and I still can't seem to grasp it.
