Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Took PT 48 and it went much better than PT 47, although I still didn't crack 170.
Score: 169
LR1: -5 (ughhhh)
LG: -0
RC: -1
LR2: -3
Now that I'm looking at this, this PT has a brutal curve.

For those of you with an internship full time 8-5 how are you guys taking practice tests? I already took in June but am finding it hard to study with working 45 hours a week. I have just been reviewing the bibles and planning on really getting into the practice tests when school starts back up. I did decent in June my main problem was I just froze on logic games and convinced myself it must be the experimental section because there was no basic sequencing game. And then the next section was my second reading comp of the test.

You only prep for a month prior to the test?TheProdigal wrote: Feeling shamed here. Third take coming up, haven't started yet. 4 week and 5 week preps for the last two times.
What's the reasoning behind that, if you don't mind me asking?

Checking in. I've been studying off and on since February. I'm taking the blueprint online course now, and have a few more lessons until I'm done with that.

For the first I didn't know the test wasn't like the GRE and had set dates to take it. Second involved getting married in a mostly DIY event.MrBalloons wrote:You only prep for a month prior to the test?TheProdigal wrote: Feeling shamed here. Also had a bit of arrogance coming in with a decent diagnostic. That's come back to bite me - repeatedly.

Well that makes sense. So what's the plan this time?TheProdigal wrote: For the first I didn't know the test wasn't like the GRE and had set dates to take it. Second involved getting married in a mostly DIY event.

Finish up this MS, 8 week prep cycle, and crack the 99th this time.MrBalloons wrote:Well that makes sense. So what's the plan this time?TheProdigal wrote: For the first I didn't know the test wasn't like the GRE and had set dates to take it. Second involved getting married in a mostly DIY event.

Out of curiosity, what's everybody's lowest percentage LR question type?
I typically struggle with the advanced Point at Issue types, as well as Parallel Reasoning.

On June, I missed an abnormal amount of Necessary Assumptions and MSS questions for some reason.MrBalloons wrote:Out of curiosity, what's everybody's lowest percentage LR question type?

But for the most part, I'll tend to miss those labeled Level 3 or 4 by cambridge.

I'm also curious. I work 8-5 and only recently started getting into a serious routine. Summer is going by too quick.joeycxxxx09 wrote:For those of you with an internship full time 8-5 how are you guys taking practice tests? For those who are studying all day, are you taking time off or you are on UG summer?

Parallel and parallel flaw because of timing issues.

Best of luck to you! How are you scoring on LR and RC?MrBalloons wrote:172+ would probably get me what I want ($$ at Duke), but if I can perform at my peak on non-LG stuff and at least get LG to a reasonable level, my options open way wider, obviously.Sera Numquam wrote:I thought that I had "learned" it, but apparently not. Going near -0 in the other 2 sections is a good buffer though! What's your target score?MrBalloons wrote:It's pretty frustrating. LG is supposed to be the "learnable" section and whatnot but it's still my weakest point. I'm approaching -0 in the other two sections, but still routinely run out of time on LG/hit a roadblock with a game setup.
So I'm hoping that learnableness kicks in soon.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Does anybody here think the RC Bible by Powerscore is more useful then Manhattan Prep's RC book? I just got the 4th edition from my library and I've heard great things about it. I would prefer not to spend more money on another prep book when I've already purchased the other two bibles, prep tests, Cambridge packets, etc. Does anyone think purchasing the RC Bible is worth it despite having the Manhattan RC book?
