Drilled 50 flaw questions (missed 1), 5 grouping games (-0 in good time), and blind reviewed LR1 of PT 47 today. I'm taking PT 48 tomorrow.

I would not say you can't improve on RC, It's just that you have to work harder if you struggle in that section. I was really struggling in in RC, until I got Manhattan RC. It help me to organize my thoughts, and understand the process of reading. Looking back on it now, having a class that went over legal cases prob. helped me get a feel for the type of reading you do on RC as well. Anyway here is something that I posted earlier, maybe it can help.

Make sure you know the structure of the passage,the different viewpoints, what each viewpoint holds as their position and make sure whenever you're answering a question that you're understanding which perspective the question is asking for.

For example, if the passage is talking about Republican and Democrats, (assuming that general ideas stand) and the passage is talking about economic principles. If a questions asks you about what Dems. think about tax policy,you know that you're prob. going to be looking for something that says taxes from the wealthy are important to maintain or expand governement programs. I know I'm not going to be looking for something that say taxes should be reduced on the wealthy.

Generally when you have a good ideal of the positions that are taken in a passage, you can narrow down an answer choice to one or two answers

Ran out of time on every section and I knew that second LR was gonna kill me. I haven't taken a PT in 2 months and have been studying the whole time but this was the same score I got on my last PT. Getting so close to my goal (170) and continually failing to hit it sucks.

I didn't go down though so I guess that's a positive.

Great place to be 2 1/3 months out IMO.. I wish I was that far ahead

I did preptest 38 and wow the third reading passage is deeeense.. =.= (but ultimately not needed to be completely understood to answer the questions -_-)

I'm slightly tempted to try it, but it seems like most of the info out there about reading comp is the same. Do you know if they really do anything different compared to the other test prep strategies?

since I have not seen other books, I can't speak to their strategies, but I can say that it helped me out. You can get a 10 dollar version of the guide from Amazon or Nook (Barnes and noble) in ebook form. I would say it's worth wild just to try it if you're really struggling. In my case, I would say out of all the sections, that's the easiest section for me just because I think I have a good ability to breakdown passages into a few large ideas. I struggled with it at first, but that's because I did not have the right strategy for the section. Once I read the Manhattan book, it organized my thoguht process and my score jumped. I'm not perfect in the section, but I feel like it's the easiest for me now. If your struggling with RC, I would give it a try considering the price relative to almost all other RC guides from prep companies.

It probably wouldn't hurt to try it, instead of just blindly drilling. I average around -5 in a section, and I just feel like I need a bit of a kick to get lower. I don't have too hard of a time understanding the passages, but still make plenty of mistakes in the questions.

The only thing I might caution you on is the fact that you're doin pretty well now. If you're averaging -5 I would be careful not rethink your entire way of doing the section because obviously something is working to average around -5. I would say most of these prep books are geared towards people who are really struggling with a particular section. Of course, there is always a chance that you might gain/understand something better to help you break past a certain scoring barrier. I think it's all relative depending on what a particular person needs
