I think our study group is the nicest thread on TLS! Literally I haven't seen any mean-spirited or discouraging people.

Hi all!

I just got my books today and I take it Sept. 24.
Any suggestions pertaining to this appreciated

Hey! Is this your first time studying for the LSAT? And what materials do you have? A lot of people suggested the LSAT trainer to me, and I'm about 8 chapters in and it's really great and different from what I used before. If you do happen to have the trainer, you could one of the schedules available online to sort out your studying. There's a 4 week, 8 week, 12 week, and 16 week option available for the trainer. You can get through it quickly in 4-8 weeks and then move on to studying from your other materials. Here's a link with info about the trainer and the schedules: http://www.thelsattrainer.com/ (go down a little and press study schedules).dancetay1 wrote:Hi all!

Regardless of what material you use, you should study background info for about a few weeks, then start drilling (taking practice questions sorted into different question types) after that to test and really build your knowledge, as well as begin taking practice tests. People have suggested taking 2-3 practice tests per week in the last month or month and a half leading up to the test.
This is all mostly stuff suggested to me or that I found through the forums, so those who are deeper into the process might have more to say!
Also, I know a lot of people studying for the MCAT, and I would say LSAT studying is a looot different than MCAT because MCAT is a lot more knowledge based and LSAT is a lot more practice and skills based (just warning you because your schedule should look a bit different than your friend's!). You're going to have to solve a lot more practice questions and practice tests than studying for the MCAT would entail. I initially made the error of studying for the LSAT like I studied for the SAT, so now I know this lol.

Heyya Fellow Studying Fools,
I just went to sign up for the September test and my location claims to already be full.... closest available center is 1 hr 40 min away. Should I sign up for wait list in my college town? Does anyone know the odds of getting in off the wait list. I really dont ant to make the 1:45 min drive.
Thanks

Did an obscenely copious amount of games. Did every simple ordering [review], relative ordering [review], and [almost every] complex ordering [new] in the Cambridge packets.
I was able to do the complex ordering far quicker than I anticipated on average, but I think that may be that non-restricted games still freak me out a little and those are the ones that sometimes take me longer when it comes to simple ordering. Still need to check with 7sage as to whether I was doing them fast enough!

So if I already have the LGB is it really worth it to get the Manhattan LG book? would it just go over the basics again?

depends how good you are on LG after you're done with the LGB. if you're getting -0 or close to it, I don't see much reason in getting Manhattan.34iplaw wrote:I finished LGB. Fair - I don't think that I'm there! For me, it's more working on speed. Although, I think I'm definitely getting better at games that have repeated questions and noticing structure / what will be asked and important.proteinshake wrote:depends how good you are on LG after you're done with the LGB. if you're getting -0 or close to it, I don't see much reason in getting Manhattan.34iplaw wrote:I finished LGB. yeah I suppose the real issue is whether or not you like how LGB handles all the question types. if not, go Manhattan!34iplaw wrote:Fair - I don't think that I'm there! Just did two packets of 5 in 35 each, -1 each.
I need to stop making sloppy errors, like writing down a rule incorrectly and having to redo a bunch of work.

Drilled LG and LR today.
Did the 4 games in Chapter 21 of the Trainer. Went -3.
Again, time was longer than I would have liked. Missed 2 on the Damn birds in the forest game.
LR on the other hand, was a damn bloodbath. Did Flaw questions from PTs 7-11 and I was appalled at how poorly I did. Double digit misses. Failing.

a good rule to follow is that if you complete a game without unjustifiably getting stuck for a ridiculously long time, you are most likely good on time.Alexandros wrote:thanks for finding that!proteinshake wrote:7Sage says it should have taken ~15 minutes, you did fine! https://7sage.com/lsat_explanations/lsa ... -4-game-3/Alexandros wrote:game 36.3. 13 bloody minutes. whhyyyyyyy.![]()

man, something like that would set me off my groove for sure in a real test. But I guess that's why we drill

If you go on the wait list you'll be guaranteed a spot, however it'll be within 100 miles of where you sign up for. So you may or may not get in. You may be better to sign up for a guaranteed spot sooner than later so you can make arragements to get a hotel if you don't feel like being up at like 5am to make a drive xDCoGar wrote:Heyya Fellow Studying Fools,

Better Than Human by Allen Buchanan is excellent reading to familiarize yourself with science (and a little philosophy). I read it about a month ago and I feel a lot more comfortable when it comes to reading science-related things. it's also not that long (like 200 pages).SweetTort wrote:Legit considering subscribing to Scientific American.Alexandros wrote:I keep having this issue where I'm at a perfect score, then, bam, like 4 questions wrong in the last passage. and agreed - RC science is the worst.SweetTort wrote:Omg, just went -3 on a single RC section.
