Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
Just BR'd and scored the PT I took on friday, and while I got done in 22 minutes with -0 in LG, I got absolutely wrecked by RC (-12), and LR (-17).... this PT was significantly lower than my last and pretty disheartening. Well, back to the books.

Can you only send in your applications once your scores are released?

Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
I'm about to spend 65 in printing to print all of my RC/LG/LR drills and put them into one giant binder.
Is this a good plan, or should I just print as I go?

PT 45, 7sage said that the LR LR RC sections were grade 4/5, 5/5, 5/5 in difficulty. Thanks for the encouraging words, only one month left!december1205 wrote:Which test was it? Oh cool. I'll take PT 45 this week too then. Also, do you find 7sage to offer better explanation than MLSAT? Ive been utilizing MLSAT but perhaps I should venture out

Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
the questions in rc, even though centered around the same topic, can still take a lot of time.gamerish wrote:[
The fact that it's a different topic so frequently is what I dislike. It feels like I'm doing so much more work/time is moving so much more slowly because each questions stands on its own. When I'm doing RC and LG, the fact that all the questions are centered around one topic helps me to think about time less. No to mention, when you finish an RC passage or an LG, you're already a 1/4 of the way done with that section. But with LR, you do a question and it's like "1 down, 24 more to go...." Whereas on RC and LG, each question bleeds into the next until you finish the passage/game.
At least, that's how I think about it.
the questions in RC go faster than lr but do you think they go very much faster making time not do much an issue in rc than lr?
i don't have timing issues in lr, but almost always take around 6 min for doing 7 qs in rc, which is too long to finish in time.

anyone who got pt-c rc q20 right the first time must be an RC natural
put in 2 min on this q and still wrong. lsac says no outside knowledge but they bring in outside knowledge for this q. why you do this lsac

Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
Did a timed LR for PT 53 during lunch break. (I used this as an experimental section for my previous timed PTs)
LR2: -1 (after blind review, -2 LOL. Will def review that problem now)
--
Remaining sections were also timed bc they were used as experimentals (over the span of few days)
LR1: -2
LG: 0
RC: -4 (this wasn't experimental; i came across one passage from MLSAT RC booklet so I just did this section excluding the passage from the MSLAT. Did 3 passages in ~28 minutes and got 4 wrong)
I wish all my real PTs are like this one! I'll be so hapy to get like 7 wrong on the real deal.
I'll review after work and finish the RC book.

To be honest I've never used MLSAT. 7sage has a fantastic system for recording your data when you are done with each test. I used excel for a while but now supplement my own tables with 7sage.

Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
How many do you usually get wrong? I was taught that re RC inference q types, we should always work from wrong to right. Chances are, of thr two answers that you narrowed down to, one is clearly wrong whether by key word switch, out of scope, too extreme, unsupported, or opposite to author's views.tvu wrote:Does anyone know how to improve RC for inference questions specifically?
I always think I responded correctly, but I always get them wrong. I always read the passage, note the Author's POV and tone/attitude towards the topics (or it criticisms). Then I dwindle it to two answers thinking I have found support for it, but nope. My RC score is killing me
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
