I'm also dieting and I think calorie restriction definitely harms your LSAT abilities.

Yeah, trying to move from grain to nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc., in case there is a confusion

Did 8 games and 1 LR section today. The LR section took 42 mins, but, its only my second section this year, and the emphasis is on accuracy and understanding right now. Got -2 on it. Will check the games tomorrow. These were the games that took more than 8 mins or had mistakes few days ago.

Well, replacing bad calories with good ones is not necessarily dieting as it is usually perceived.RZ5646 wrote:I'm also dieting and I think calorie restriction definitely harms your LSAT abilities.

Nope. I have enough going on in my life without quantifying and analyzing everything I eat. I just try to eat less obviously bad stuff and maximize vegetables and protein. I'm sure that's not the most efficient approach, but it's working alright for me.nlee10 wrote:anyone track macros?

I used to religiously on myfitnesspal and watch youtube fitness channels all of the time, but in the last 5 months I fell the fuck off. I need to get back on it. The LSAT destroyed my motivation lolI know some of you guys in here are trying to eat clean and all but anyone track macros?

I just redid 4 sequencing games from yesterday. Went from -1 to -0 and improved my timing significantly.
Game 1: 5/5 (5 minutes)
Game 2: 7/7 (8.25 minutes)
Game 3: 7/7 (5 minutes)
Game 4: 6/6 (6.75 minutes)

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Been a bit of a discussion about RC guides, and I know RZ wanted a report about Manhattan, so...
Yeah I'll go ahead and recommend it, especially this far away from the actual test (meaning its not like you'll lose essential study time to go through it). Its definitely far less useful/illuminating than the AR bible or Manhattan's LR, and I would't say I learned anything new per say, but still worth it for a couple of reasons:
1) My whole RC approach had sort of just been read... then answer some questions. Never had an "approach" really, in part bc RC was always my biggest strength so I'd focus on it less. Manhattan at least made me question this non-approach, encouraging you to attack each passage with a purpose (find the scale/passage mapping). Again, I already did this intuitively, but going into the passage knowing the main things you will be looking for has codified my approach and made me marginally more confident in approaching passages (especially science ones, which along with grouping games are my biggest weaknesses).
2) In a similar vein, I think its useful to go through at least one book that breaks down RC to its core. Even if you end up adopting nothing, at the very least you are thinking about your approach to the section at every level- what should you be looking for in the first paragraph, common language clues, how you approach answers, discovering common question types/what wrong answers will often try to do. This is less useful for RC then LR and AR, but IMO its still useful.
I wouldn't say going through Manhattan is gonna make or break your test, and if we were a month out I'd say your time is probably better spent elsewhere. But more than 4 months is there really a downside to a quick read that will definitely help - even if only slightly/by giving you more confidence?

I'll have to check out Manhattan RC then. I don't really have a strategy for RC either... I just underline and circle stuff that looks important and then answer the questions, and there's probably a better way of doing it.

Finished PT39 but I didn't BR yet because I was impatient and wanted to know my score
LG: -0
LR: -2
RC: -6 lolz finished with extra time too
LR: -5
Scaled score: 170. But I'm considering it a retake because I saw some questions before when I was taking the BP class

That's one thing that bugged me when I was going through PT 39-40's that I might have seen a question or two from the class.JackelJ wrote:Finished PT39 but I didn't BR yet because I was impatient and wanted to know my score

Well, that's what I was doing too! Trying to change that, and its not that hard. Basically, a lot of fish and chicken, nuts, veggies, and fruit, throw in some weights and cardio, and all is good! Cutting out all other food types with vacations excepted.RZ5646 wrote:Nope. I have enough going on in my life without quantifying and analyzing everything I eat. On a slightly related note, does anyone else get absurdly hungry during PTs? No matter what/when/how much I eat, I start getting hungry about 20 minutes in and it's all I can think about. Does anyone with this problem have snack suggestions?

Try eating a PB&J. Not even trolling, but the protein/calories from the peanut butter will keep you full for a while.Quippy wrote:On a slightly related note, does anyone else get absurdly hungry during PTs? Agreed. Except I do just peanut butter since I'm not a fan of jelly. Sometimes Nutella is added.Shakawkaw wrote:Try eating a PB&J. Yep. I eat this pretty much every morning as is. Good fat as well.Shakawkaw wrote:Try eating a PB&J. Another suggestion is cashews. Anything along those lines of some protein + fats will be good and satiating.
