So I saw the new Home Alone last night. It's pretty cool that the kid gets to grow up to be James Bond, but the whole booby trapping an old abandoned house thing is way too played out now. I don't recommend it.

Anyone out there who is consistently scoring at or above their target (and was before October test too) and just has no idea what happened to their skillz on test day?? I'm getting pissed every time a get a 171 or 173 just because it reinforces how much I had this shit down before that fateful day.

(P.S. Unsolicited NU fee waiver today. Already have a need-based one, though. Wish I could give it to one of y'all.
)
Also, question: when y'all drill certain question types, do you time yourself? If so, how? (~1 minute per question?)

yo cambridge RC review group-- it has come to my attention that there are two versions of the bundles, so the numbers given out arent aligned. nearly seppuku'd after going -6 on a passage until realizing i was using the wrong answer key. how should we get on the same page? for my version, the type header is not italic, and natural science 18 is from PT12s3p4.

Out of town and only have my phone... I know you're out of town too but if you have your stuff can you just post the ptXsXpX for all the passages? Pretty sure most of us are using the same bundle anyway so I doubt its a problem.bitsy wrote:yo cambridge RC review group-- it has come to my attention that there are two versions of the bundles, so the numbers given out arent aligned. nearly seppuku'd after going -6 on a passage until realizing i was using the wrong answer key. how should we get on the same page? for my version, the type header is not italic, and natural science 18 is from PT12s3p4.

Raging right now ... taking PT 58 and just got absolutely destroyed by the game's section. Thought I'd be in a good mood for once on Saturday considering my recent gains ... nope.

God so irritating ... I'm thinking about just grading my first three sections and if I didn't get anywhere near 170 calling even taking the rest of the PT off and just drilling... thoughts ?
Edit: 170 assuming my normal scores o nthe other two sections, that is.

Re: December 2012 Re-takers
Just graded the first three ... -1 on LR1,
-2 on RC, ....
-10 on LG.
What the fuck, man. Partially attributed to fatigue and partially due to not knowing WTF to do AT ALL with the International / Domestic flight games... I really wonder if I will ever get to a consistent -4 or so on LG, that's seriously all I need and everyone else seems to get it so easily.
Anyone know how bad of an idea it'd be just to go print out all LG sections from 39 - 66 and just drill those like hell?
I feel like
1. I wouldn't remember them that much for PTs
2. I obviously desperately need help with games that aren't in the Cambridge 1-38 bundle, since I've drilled those to the point of being sick of them
I've been going consistent ~-5 or so on games timed sections, if I could get it to -4 consistently on PTs I'd be perfectly happy with that.

You want to learn patterns and associations. Barring zones, this is how I made my leap...at some point they all start looking the same.
I know ... I'm not exactly great at games in general, though. It was for sure the domestic and international flights one that killed me here. So irritated. Just got -1 on the second LR passage (though I went over time by ~30 seconds and just straight didn't do the experimental) ... so fatigue may've caused me to go -2 or -3 on the real thing. Based on my scores just now I would've got a 177 if I could go -0 on LG like everyone says is so easy, hell even if I went -5 which is terrible around here I'd have gotten a 172.
I guess I'm not too mad about a 168 with -10 on LG, it's higher than my average score and I'm really happy about LR and RC ... but good God, games. I think I might start collecting data on what game types screw me most and then buy the cambridge bundles for those for the last 20 or so most recent tests. Part of my failing games on these recent PTs is for sure the different, weird questions, which I have to get used to.

Twins, we are twins. Except that NU fee waiver part earlier. I think Velocity covered that stuff... I just don't think I understood it the way Dave explained it. Spent an assload of time on it today but I think I'm finally getting it (got through all of the Difficulty 1 sufficient and necessary questions in the cambridge bundle at -0). Noodley, man, thank you for pushing Manhattan so hard. Can't wait to see what happens when I get to conditionals.enidwexler wrote:Finishing MLR Chapter 3 and just realizing the difference between necessary vs. sufficient assumption questions. Also, why I have to study in bed (where there is more room).
