Re: June 2011 Study Group
i did pt 19 logic games yesterday if you guys want to review that at all, missed more than usual (like 4) but all were careless mistakes (i.e. not fully reading a question etc, pretty frustrating).

Haha you are indeed correct!FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:So curiosity finally got the best of me: Eichhörnchen = squirrel in German = wtf? Haha
Another random note - I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I'll be brute forcing my way into the 170s. Anyone else projecting the same?

This test might be driving me to the brink of insanity

Working on RC all day today. Will mix in some logic games and LR questions to stay on top of my game, but definitely beginning to hone in on RC as I have neglected it for too long.

Eich and Florida: Would you guys want to meet in the room in an hour and a half. I'll do the RC section and we can go over it.

Re: June 2011 Study Group
Good luck with this - I've finally managed to make it -4 or less and the problems are all on inference questions. If I can kick that then I'm golden on this section. Now my LR, that's a different story...geverett wrote:Working on RC all day today. Off to the gym to blow off some steam and clear my mind from
LSAT stuff for a bit. I always seem to do better after a good workout.

Just curious, but how much time do you spend on reading the passage in the RC questions?

Re: June 2011 Study Group
I have been trying it a few different ways, and neither has seemed to bring great results. In the older passages many of them do not seem to conform to the scale image idea - presenting 2 sides of an argument in which the debate squares off. In the newer one that definitely seems to be the case more or less.Neidermeyer519 wrote:Just curious, but how much time do you spend on reading the passage in the RC questions?
I have tried writing notes to keep a running understanding in the margins of the passsage. When I do this it is typically 3 1/2 to 4 minutes. I have also just read through in 2 - 2 1/2 minutes and I feel like I have a great grasp of the passage only to encounter some question about a specific detail that eats time to find. In the case of the older passages there are many questions about specific details some of which there is no line reference for and this really kills my time. I love reading and am an avid reader, but this stuff is just kickin' my ass.

Re: June 2011 Study Group
I know some people dont read the whole passage, but I feel it works much better when I do. I'll usually spend 3-4 minutes reading the passage and then another 3-4 minutes answering the questions. I'm usually able to finish the section right on time, but consistency is still my main problem with RC. Two PT ago I was -2, then the one I took on Monday I was -6. I am highly considering getting the RC bible, although I do have Nova's Master the LSAT and have heard that has a very good RC section which I have yet to get toNeidermeyer519 wrote:Just curious, but how much time do you spend on reading the passage in the RC questions?

I have the Master the LSAT as well. I'll take a look at RC today in it. I've gone through Atlas a couple times. It's definitely helpful. I feel it might be much more applicable to the current trends in RC then some of the older ones. I could be wrong though.

Re: June 2011 Study Group
Just got the 10 new actual LSAT book in the mail. Glad I found out about this before I went and bought them individually! lol. It'll be nice to take PT 55 to see how I do on it. I took the LSAT then, somewhat unprepared and with a family death that morning and scored a 152 :/ it'll be nice to get a little retribution to see just how much I've improved.

I love reading the passages in RC. It's just the questions that suck.

Re: June 2011 Study Group
I know most of us are hoping for a 170+ come test day, when do you hope to break the 170 mark for PT? I'm still in the 165-167 range, hopefully by the start of May I'll be hitting 170

Re: June 2011 Study Group
For those of you who can reschedule June, i believe the deadline is May 15th. Hence, if by may 15, you're not hitting 170s consistently and your goal is to only score in that range, i recommend postponing.
In other news, 67 days until the test.

Preptest 45, December 2004 LSAT - 169
LR -4
RC -5
LG -2
LR -3
It is exciting to see a score like this, but also incredibly frustrating to think I scored a mere 162 in December. Frustrating and exciting. Just like my sex life.

Is anyone else thinking about a potential postponement already or am I the only one?

Re: June 2011 Study Group
It's crossed my mind but I won't give it much thought until the first week of may. If I'm not within 4-5 points of my goal come May 15 I will most likely postpone. This decision would be difficult but given the circumstances would probably be the best idea. Doing anything more than entertaining the idea now would probably demotivate me.zanzbar wrote:Is anyone else thinking about a potential postponement already or am I the only one?

Yeah I am actually thinking about taking it anyway because I am scoring in the area that I would be in some T2 schools I wouldn't mind attending, and taking it would just get all the pressure off of me for October.
