Man, I forgot how bad I am at RC science. Guess I know what I'm drilling this week.

Got it, thanks a ton!! You've been really helpful! Don't know what I'd do without TLSBarack O'Drama wrote:The Trainer is the GOAT! haha..studyingeveryday wrote:I started the Trainer, and it's actually been pretty interesting so far! Thanks to those who suggested it. I'm going to do the 4 week plan and then move on to the Manhattan books.
Though I'll do a lot of drilling throughout using the trainer plan, I'm wondering: how are you all spreading out your drilling and practice tests? Do you drill everyday? And how many practice tests are you taking each week? Are you going to increase more practice tests as you get closer to test day?
I was thinking I could start taking practice exams in the third week of the trainer, and then another the next week, and when I'm done with the trainer I'll have 10-11 weeks left until test day (depending on how fast I get through the trainer). I'll also simultaneously be going through all the Manhattan books. Should I just consistently do a practice exam per week and then maybe 3 the in the last few weeks?
I'm trying to figure this all out so I can set aside PTs for drilling and PTs for full-length practice! Thank you!
When I was reading The Trainer--which was the first book I used in my studying--I drilled questions that pertained to every chapter. For instance, while I was reading the chapter on LR Flaws I think I did ~50 flaw questions from the Cambridge packet. Mostly the easier ones to save the more difficult for when I went through the LR Bible/MLSAT LR. As far as practice test, I haven't really done any since my diagnostic a few weeks ago. I have just been drilling because I know that my LG skills are still too weak, and have focused on passages/drilling question types. I definitely try to drill everyday after everything I learn. It really helps to instill what you are learning. I would just follow whatever the study schedule says about PT'ing. I would say at this point, wait until you've gone through the trainer to really get into PT'ing. Before I got through the trainer, I sort of found myself struggling to do some questions that the Trainer went on to explain. I basically figured that drilling made more sense--at least at that point. YMMV though. I think your idea to do one after 3 weeks with the trainer is a good plan. As far as setting aside PTs for drilling vs. full-length tests: I a, using all the PTs from 40-77 for full-length test and drilling out of the Cambridge packets that have questions up until PT40. So it may work to break them up like that.
I think you are making a good choice doing the Trainer--> MLSAT. I wish that is what I had done from the get-go. I still don't think the bibles hurt in anyway, but the LR Bible was largely a time sink when the MLSAT seems to be much better imho.

I took one around two weeks ago, and I need to focus a lot of RC. LR is okay, though I have trouble with certain question types, and I need to drill drill drill so I can get good at LG again. I guess the one good thing about having done this for so long is that I know where I need help! Were you also retaking? Awesome...Well I can tell you drilling will get you to where you need to be. RC can be a bitch to master, but I think the Trainer does a good job of explaining how to read it properly. LR is a pain, but from drilling for a couple weeks, I went from missing -7 or -9 to about -4 or -5. So there's hope

And you are absolutely correct. Knowing where your weaknesses are is a great thing. Now you can be more specific with what you review and drill.
Not retaking. I wish I was so I would know what to expect and help to alleviate my stress lol Hopefully September will be my first and last. But if I don't hit my goal, I will retake in December.

Whoa, that's a great improvement! I took twice already and I really wish I at least hadn't taken the first time, though I canceled my score. I think as long as you know you're 100% ready by test day and you have a great test center (with large desks lol) then don't sweat about not knowing what to expect! In fact, knowing that you have the option to retake should make you more comfortable lol!Barack O'Drama wrote:Awesome...Well I can tell you drilling will get you to where you need to be. Thanks! It feels good to be at least making some progress. I am trying to get LGs down before moving on to full PTs. This time you'll know exactly what to expect. I think where I'm taking it will have decent space. And having December takes a little stress away, but I worry about getting my apps in late as a result. Oh well, no use in stressing I suppose lolstudyingeveryday wrote:Whoa, that's a great improvement! I went back to my office today at my dads house to drill for the first time since I took the lsat last week. Ended up crawling into bed and took a nap instead. :/ Shame on me. I bought the blueprint RC book today though so I have that going for me.

No shame in that. Somedays if you're just not feeling it, it is best to just relax and do something else. I have been feeling a little burned out lately myself. Get back at it tomorrow and you'll probably do better from having a much deserved break.

Just finished some drilling on LG. Going to hit a chapter on LR in the Trainer before bed.
4 games. -2!
These were ordering games with conditionals on 2 of them. Feeling pretty good about that considering LG was a damn mystery to me a month ago. However, time was slower than I would have liked. Timing will come.

Are there good sources that use PDFs? I have a Surface Pro 3 tablet. In many of my undergrad classes I use it to import PDFs/ppts into OneNote and I can write all over them just like you would any piece of paper. I figured I could let my tablet act as the test booklet and then get a spiral notebook or something to act as a bubble sheet. If there are sources like that which usually need a printer, I could definitely manage.Alexandros wrote:mwells56 wrote:Ah, I see. That's a difficult situation. I've been doing something similar, especially with earlier stages of games so that I don't need a million copies of them, but I think I'm going to stop soon. I've definitely made some really silly errors, and I somewhat attribute that to doing something similar to this method... i.e. I'll circle C instead of B when the work for the answer is right there but B is '3' and C is '4'. Basically, I definitely would not do diagnostics using this method. I think it's fine when you are doing a game focused on accuracy rather than speed, but, given how important eliminating answers is, you need to be able to write on the test. [Sort of realized you can probably do this.]mwells56 wrote:Are there good sources that use PDFs? I have a Surface Pro 3 tablet. I think you can get most tests as .pdfs, but it probably depends what you are specifically looking for. I'm not sure if the question book by type [not cambridge] is available by .pdf. The name escapes me.

Nice!! I miss doing my daily morning beach jogs (only during the summer). So now that it's summer there's no excuse to not go jog outside instead of a stupid treadmill huh? :pSweetTort wrote:Y'all, I ran 3 miles this morning, and I am feeling great. Def glad I took this summer to workout and do LSAT prep.

Oh, tbh, I prefer the treadmill. I only jog outside on the weekends, when the gym doesn't open until 9.TheMikey wrote:Nice!! I miss doing my daily morning beach jogs (only during the summer).
