oh no I miss it man; job security, unemployment benefits, nearly free health care, and while I don't have any kids my friends back home who do are 10x better off than many people here, with subsidized child care and one of the world's best public school systems etc., plus the whole super affordable tuition thing is something that should appeal to all applying to schools that charge upwards of 50K a year in tuition

all of the reasons it sounds great i cant remember which country it was but i was watching something where the state sends expecting mothers like a giant box of just really awesome newborn stuff like a crib and many other essential baby items it looked really nice and socialist and great

The Scandinavians have super cush parental leave policies. Sweden, for example, has something like 480 days at ~80% salary split between two parents, 60 days to be taken together. Meanwhile, the US remains the only industrialized nation other than Papua New Guinea without guaranteed maternity/paternity leave. Because freedom.

FMLA guarantees maternity leave but it doesn't have to be paid (wtf...). I got looked at like I was crazy when I inquired about paternity leave
