I know a lot of TLSers aim to apply the second applications are open, but is it actually harmful to retake in October and apply once you get your October score? Like is there a significant benefit to applying on the earliest possible date?

That sounds pretty similar to my experience, what was your PT average again? Sorry since I think you posted that earlier. You may have just gotten the bad end of the variance stick :(

I'd definitely think about retaking, but you're also not in a bad spot to go ahead and apply this cycle, depending on your target schools, I'd think. Your targets really really matter here, though.
Pt average was a 172 but I lost my watch for a couple tests and those tests were significantly lower than the rest of my scores. Not saying that was the reason but I think they were outliers so without them the average was 174. Highest PT was 178 and lowest was 167. I really had my heart set on UCLA or Georgetown and with a 3.07 GPA and a 169 it just wouldn't happen...signed up to retake.
Thanks for all your help!

Was pt-in at 173. Scored a 171 with some serious careless errors. Have a 4.0 gpa from an ivy league school and wondering what to do if I want harvard or columbia.

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure as long as you get them in before thanksgiving youre still considered an early applicant. Looking at graphs I don't think most people get them in until January/February. I'm retaking and my plan is to be done with everything by the time I get my score so when my score comes in I can just hit send

So I'm already writing notes about my plan of attack & here's what I'm thinking…

Going to apply to my "safety" schools once apps open in September so I can hopefully get some options under my belt. Then I plan to retake in Oct. to see if I can improve my score. If I can improve enough, I may apply to other schools with my new score.

BUT…for my studying…(which I'm thinking could drastically be improved on) I could use some advice. I studied with the Bibles & took roughly 15 PTs before June…what did everyone else do?

mylsn.info.

You should be fine, looking very solid at harvard, and 50%ish at Colombia.

A few more points and you could be looking at some serious scholarship money, though.

this is also my plan as of now. I suppose there is nothing wrong with going ahead and applying to a school where you're already well above both their medians.

also waiting until your app is complete (new LSAT score) can be good for collecting fee waivers - if you're preparing for a retake, anywhere you can save some $$$ will be nice.

Thanks. Yeah I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing. I didn't apply to any colleges until like December and I still did okay lmao

170. Took the test with a cold which sucked and walking out I kinda felt like this is where I'd be.

Gonna retake but happy to know I can score high and that I wasn't crazy a year and a half ago for thinking I had a shot.

Thank you tls, couldn't have done it without you

I've asked two different deans in the TLS forums and both have said that the October test is still considered early, as long as you submit your application then as well. They implied that anything by thanksgiving is good. And that they don't start reading applications until the end of October at the earliest.

Where did you lose points?
Really all over the board but the first LR killed me the most. My issue is inconsistency. There's never a section that i'm ALWAYS good or ALWAYS bad at. Just unpredictable for me unfortunately

4.0/171 from an ivy league sounds like you have a really good chance at Colombia, especially if the rest of your application is solid.

7Sage mixed with LSAT Trainer and Manhattan Prep for RC supplement. My first PT was 161 and by the end I was averaging 178. Just stick with the program and it's an absolute godsend.
What exactly did you use from 7Sage & what exactly is this program you speak of

Yeah, that's really tough. I was kind of like that, but still somewhat consistent with LR and LG. Still never totally sure I would nail it. I say just drill drill drill, test test test, review review review. If you start doing that now you have plenty of time to get more comfortable with the test and pinpoint specific issues.

And if you're having issues with LG use JY Ping's videos on 7Sage. I liked him WAYYY more than bibles and I think it's really responsible for my increased score.
I'm looking at 7Sage now & I'm seeing a lot of options for programs & such…are his videos free or part of those packages
