Essentially started May 1, right after exams, (got books and studied for a week or two in Jan but that doesn't count) so just under 5 months. first month was almost entirely LG which was a grind. I got insanely lucky on test-day which is why I haven't written a guide or anything, but I recommend checking out SweetTort's - he removed it but it's quoted in the replies.
also I'm in a cafe and there's water coming out of the ceiling. Or maybe a light? Not sure. anyways I'm leaving this cafe.
Alright, thanks. I like the idea of starting with LG. Want that to be a comfortable section; a rest basically. Can't remember where I saw it/who wrote it, but I liked the method of printing out 3-4 copies of each game, and repeating them over the week to cut down on time and almost memorize them.
I'll take another look at his guide. I read it awhile ago and remember it being great.

You're going to be good. Take pts in different locations tho (unless your TC is a location you can go to).
Yeah I'm taking summer classes, so I'll be taking most of my PTs on campus, which is where my TC is, I believe. I'm feeling pretty optimistic. The majority of the LR/RC questions I got wrong were ones that I knew I likely had wrong, but couldn't be bothered to think too hard about, lol.
Have all of the PTs, so I think I'll get 1-30 or 40 ready for drilling by question type later. Do you (or anyone else) recommend reading through the MH books before drilling, or drilling as you go?
Yeah, the desensitization to the TC will help your mentality a lot imo. I would go through the books as you drill seperating it into ~1 hour of drilling and ~1 hour of reading.
Also, wtf is UT doing? They are being super stingy according to LSN with the high LSATers. Not even splitters, people with Hammys got like 34 grand total (minus their instate tuition exemption)
Right? That's what I thought too.
Solid diagnostic, Oopsu! and PTs on campus / in TC location is a good idea.
Can't stress how important differing locations taking PTs should be. I was studying post grad at my parents in the sticks where my parents were the youngest people I would see on a daily basis and I was cultured shocked at my TC (sounds stupid but it messes with your brain).
Idk what UT motive is. Sure they are "T14" now but you are stiffing 3.7/175 with sometimes $20 grand total.
Agree completely.
Yeah, confused. Some of the other strong regionals that I might consider with a full-ride + stipend deal are surprisingly stingy too. maybe it's an in-state/out of state thing I dunno.

Yeah that's about what I did. Also when you get better at them - recommend doing packs of 5 timed to 35 minutes (credit @SweetTort, can't remember if he put that in the guide or not). I got overly familiar with 1-35 games and got rusty at forming inferences, which was a bit of an issue, but was easily remedied by doing a lot of new sections in the month / weeks prior to the test.

It has to be YP, right? What other Strong regional are you looking at? Lotta Hamilton with your numbers (One can dream...)
i probably should not type the name of a prestigious scholarship wrong again.

Was looking at UW, UC Boulder, etc very briefly for location, since the only decent law schools in the west are Berk and Stanford (lol). but not much for full-rides given out according to LSN, unless tuition is just cheaper.
doesn't really makes since to be YP because how tf is that helping your yield? if all you're gonna give is 20k, might as well just ding everyone with Hammy numbers and call it a day.

Boulder would be fun, but you're set for a named T13 unless you go all Rob Ford obviously us.
I thought that too but I'd be pretty insulted if I were a Ruby candidate and got practically nothing from UT if I really wanted to go there. Hell folks with my numbers should be given full rides imo. Also, apparently uva has the "deans" scholarship which is a full ride as well.... Cen I haz?

Boulder's a great town. but yeah with my numbers and what yours'll be it would be difficult to justify taking a non-t14 with less than full.
UVA should def give you that deans scholly.

Rob ford died didn't he? I forgot. we only knew him briefly before the world took him from us.
I've been considering my UG and just kind of relaxing with the cut-throatness of a T13 but I just don't see upward momentum doing that. and lmao uva will come at me either 20g total and not negotiate. they've been giving heaps of people declines on the negotiations.

def apply to your UG and see what happens on the $$$ front. it's not a bad school.
didn't that one guy like fly over and sit down with them etc? sounded really intense. I think you might have to go the extra mile on negotiations sometimes.
I have realistically 0 hopes for UVA but I'm going to visit, write a why UVA, etc to try to avoid the inevitable YP.

as narcissistic as it may sound, I think they'd give me a full ride no problem.
Yeah the Calsplitter guy did that I think (maybe it was ASW?). Michigan and Duke seem to be a little more loose with the wallet but I'd be pretty let down with little to none from UVA.
I think you'll pull them easy with an early app, especially with a why uva.

Most of my numbers twins in this cycle (and in cycles past) have been dinged, WL'd, or "pending", many with why UVAs and early apps. It's a nice little yellow bubble. Makes sense in a way because with 175+ ~3.8 they know you're a candidate for big $ at better ranked schools (ie CLS) but not gonna help their numbers much. so I'll try but keeping expectations low.
Damn, at least you've got number twins that post; my range of 3.2-3.4s aren't posting their scholarship information :/
I think you'll have the debate between Ruby and Hammy pretty soon tho. good debate to have.

Nah, she wasn't there so I am pulling another overtime/flex hours sunday so that I can try again and if she isn't there again, sweet day off in the middle of the week.
I have 2 STEM professors that I'm still tight with but I thought that LS's valued relevant(?) professors more.

that sounds good.
I think the only concern with STEM profs is that they might be less personal or less 'class discussion'-y . I don't think LSs value them less at all, and nothing in UG is really relevant to LS anyways. you have 2 soon to be 3 right now right?

All LoRs follow the same basic principle i presume. X is so great, X was a great learn, etc.
Yeah, I've got 2, 1 pending and is could be 5 if a certain few bite. I don't intend to keep them all but I'll choose the best and send them out (hell I might just send 4).

yeah dude you're definitely gonna be good. are you able to see them?
I'm gonna try to stop being awkward and shy and obsessively go to office hours next year. also wanna figure out what the deal is with UG thesis supervisors who haven't taught you in a classroom writing LoRs.

We're twins. Same goal this year. The summer class schedule I made a couple of days ago was influenced quite a bit by ratemyprof. Have a couple of classes with "extremely nice and always open to help/talk" profs.

lol yeah a huge amount of my course choices are gonna be based off of my ability to suck up to the profs. you've got a few years too right? I was dumb and didn't realize the strict rule that the two profs HAD to teach you in class and was relying on profs I research for.

Yeah, I didn't know that either honestly until you mentioned it earlier in the thread. Yup, I've still got plenty of time, but I think you'll be okay with a year. Can you try to take classes now from profs you've researched for?

Don't think they teach normal UG classes so no. I'm trying to find a prof who I'll be able to take a class with to do my honors thesis under but idk if that will pan out.

All LoRs follow the same basic principle i presume. X is so great, X was a great learn, etc.
Yeah, I've got 2, 1 pending and is could be 5 if a certain few bite. I don't intend to keep them all but I'll choose the best and send them out (hell I might just send 4).
I'm a little worried about LORs since I graduated in 2014, was always a pretty introverted student, and wasn't the best student. I have a couple professors in mind, and I'd like to think they'd be willing to do me a favor, but if I somehow strike out with them, idk what my plan of action will be.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
