I've been binge watching old classics. Yesterday I did "Glengarry Glenn Ross", today I may do "Full Metal Jacket".TheMikey wrote:Ok so I know I said I would give New Girl a shot sometime this summer, but I started shortly after we spoke. I recommend Orphan Black. So. Good. Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - STEADY GRINDN' (new pole)
I'm on the fence on what to do. I took a live BP course, loved it and I've been using their methods. I'm done with it and I don't know if I should either renew it and take the course again online, go through the bibles or do the lsat trainer. I have a lot of work overall to do but I'm making progress still and I haven't his any walls. This is why I think it may be good to continue with BP since it's working. I read the kindle unlimited preview of the trainer (first four chapters abridged) and I browsed through the LG and LR bibles... I'm so torn.

1.How much does it cost to renew?momoyome wrote:I'm on the fence on what to do. I took a live BP course, loved it and I've been using their methods. 2.Of the material that you did not master, what do you believe is expected utility of mastering that material?
If the answer to 1 is a large amount of money, then I would likely renew only if you felt you there was large amount of useful material that I did not master.
I am not familiar with blueprint, so I cannot attest to the specifics of how useful the material and it what cases one should renew.
Consistency in approach is good, though a having variety of perspectives and approaches can also be beneficial.

Money is no issue. I'm actually really lucky that I don't have financial strains for the whole law school process (My father who is independently wealthy is financing it). Whatever is the best is what I'll go with.SunDevil14 wrote:1.How much does it cost to renew?momoyome wrote:I'm on the fence on what to do. I feel like I can attain mastery. I'm in no way going to be a 180'r but I feel that there's much more than I can do to better. I should just renew and exhaust the material and then search elsewhere when I've extracted everything I can

if you go through the BP course again, won't you be wasting a lot of time learning things you already know? I would just get the best books available (Manhattan in my opinion). if you already know the basics of the LSAT, no point in learning the basics again.momoyome wrote:Money is no issue. If money is not an issue, then I would renew if you felt you did not attain a high level of mastery the first time around. If you believe that you attained a high level of mastery regarding the majority of subjects than you would likely be better off picking up the Manhattan Prep series or Powerscore Prep series.proteinshake wrote:if you go through the BP course again, won't you be wasting a lot of time learning things you already know? If you are a audio learner, and or prefer to watch video explanations I would check out 7sage. They offer free video explanations on games. If you like the style of explanation and feel that your logical reasons and reading comprehension could improve a fair amount from similar explanation/review, then consider enrolling in their online program. Personally I really like the video explanations of the logic games. From what I have read on these forums, they are well reviewed, and you get a good bang for your buck.
Personally, I believe that once you establish a good foundation and have a solid grip of fundamentals, rigorous self study, drilling, and practice tests are going to be the most fruitful route for improvement.
Other resources that tend to be well reviewed on here on the Cambridge Packets, personally I haven't used their material but Its worth looking into when compiling resources and making a study plan.

I'm an outlier and while I think 7sage has some good stuff, I'm not blown away by them. Sometimes I supplement explanations of games from them, but they're just not for me most of the time on its own. It's what I used before I started BP. right no I kind of want to refine my techniques and get better at the material (I already have a good foundation from two months of rigorous learning, studying and drilling).SunDevil14 wrote:If money is not an issue, then I would renew if you felt you did not attain a high level of mastery the first time around. Yeah it's pretty damn hard haha. I have a few friends who are in love with Dark Souls. They bugged me into trying dark souls 2 (they carried me through basically all of the parts I did lol), and yeah it's difficult. It's basically you die over and over and then you learn from your mistakes for the following time you go through something. Pain in the ass but they say it actually feels rewarding once you beat it, lol.proteinshake wrote:nah, there's so much in that game that I don't even feel like starting itTheMikey wrote:I was never really into Skyrim, or any games like it for that matter. You have to do what works for you, that is what is most important. I also tried 7Sage before I had any real foundation of LG and I felt the same way. I don't think they're are meant to stand alone in a vacuum, but rather be used with their LSAT course, or when you have a solid understanding and to use for reviewing.momoyome wrote:I'm an outlier and while I think 7sage has some good stuff, I'm not blown away by them. Weirdly, those same friends who are Dark Souls and Skyrim fans are also runescape players.. lol. I usually just play the divison, GoW, and occasionally cod but I miss the older ones </3. Try seeing the video games thread in the lounge forum thingy, there may be someone there who likes the same RPG's!proteinshake wrote:I'm bummed there aren't any Elder Scrolls players in here! but I think my love for medievalish RPGs stems from me being a Runescape nerd in middle schoolTheMikey wrote:Yeah it's pretty damn hard haha. I really loved their course for teaching the material. Their philosophy that you need two months and only their course to master is a little ambitious (I'm only at a 154 and need another 9 points)! It was an excellent primer for learning everything but I had a tough time mastering everything in two months, which is why I want to continue studying. The online material is great. Their homework for the lessons are tailored to you and picks up on your weaknesses and gives you questions based on what you've gotten wrong. Makes drilling great which is why I was wanting to continue on with them.Barack O'Drama wrote:You have to do what works for you, that is what is most important. I read the kindle unlimited preview of the trainer (first four chapters abridged) and I browsed through the LG and LR bibles... I'm so torn.
I feel like I can attain mastery. I'm in no way going to be a 180'r but I feel that there's much more than I can do to better. I should just renew and exhaust the material and then search elsewhere when I've extracted everything I canthanks for helping me talk through it xD
How did you find Blueprint? I've been curious to get some more opinions on their course!?
I think they really shine through with LR. I made the most improvements there and actually learned to love the material through their study methods. If you have specific questions let me know.
The big downside was that I couldn't figure out how to view questions again without the answer you selected and the right answer highlighted. Made redoing questions difficult.

That is awesome. I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. Part of me sort of regrets not taking a in-person/online course. I mean I guess I'm doing alright, but I think I would liked to have been able to have someone to ask specific questions for specific types. I guess my only question is for the two month plan, how did they break down the sections? Did you do everything a little bit all at once, or did you do LR then LG, etc.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - STEADY GRINDN' (new pole)
16 lessons in 2 months with 6 proctored exams, 3 workshops. Two lessons a week, some times a workshop on a third day and some times a practice test on a weekend. Each lesson has one type of LR question (they have like 13 categories) plus a game type or RC type. Some lessons have all three sections. They break LR into three families that all relate to each other. Very helpful for me to start seeing patterns and stuff.Barack O'Drama wrote:momoyome wrote: I'm on the fence on what to do. They break RC down by structure - one perspective, two perspective, synthesis. Then they go into secondary structures. They teach each of the three main structures then go more in depth with secondary structures.
Games is pretty good. They break it down into four groups: one to one, grouping, combo and neither. They introduce the type of game, them go more in depth and complex as each lesson goes on.
It really builds on itself. I enjoyed my class and made friends. It was great to have a teacher too who was young. I wish that courses though had teachers who diagnosed low. My teacher diagnosed high and two months was good for him to get to 175. It's hard to do when you're a lot lower
