@ Poll question: How are you going to spend this agonizing wait?
I'll be drinking my sorrows away at an old fashion italian wedding.

as in an italian wedding with antiquated qualities or a wedding with a reception where they serve you an italian old fashioned?Harry_Pluxen wrote:@ Poll question: How are you going to spend this agonizing wait?

Trees, mate, glass, AND planet orbit on our OP banner...genius!zacboro wrote:Everyone check the original post! New waiter's thread banner courtesy of JackelJ (much thanks!!)
It was a beautiful day in the Burgh so I haven't been on all day and I don't plan on catching up either. I just ordered a new book last night so now I have incentive to finish my current book. I grew up reading constantly and I'm really trying to become a strong reader again. For it's own sake and I'm sure being a strong reader will carry with it it's own benefits in lawl school

Re: The Official June 2015 Waiter's Thread
No that was the correct assumption! These honors classes are by special permission only and don't count for extra credit. They are usually only open to people who are planning on pursuing Ph.D.'s in math and are orders of magnitude more difficult than non honors classes.JackelJ wrote:Oh yea my college has honors sections for students in the honors college, but these are only really for freshman level classes. I took ChillTomG's comment to mean more of Junior/Senior level classes for math majors, but maybe that was a bad assumptionwhacka wrote:my UG had a very small amount of honors classes, which were supposed to be harder but counted for more credits or something. The only one I can think of was honors writing for freshmen. I think all of the honors classes (if there were even any more than the writing one) were all gen eds.JackelJ wrote:what do you mean honors math classes? I thought honors/non honors was high school stuffChillTomG wrote:For my honors math classes, B+ is average with an approximately even split A/B+/B. My school does not do minus grades, and C+ or lower is only for students who really screwed up and did little of the work.
This is "fair" since the average student in my honors classes will be attending a top 15-20 Ph.D. program in math and would cruise to a very high A in a non honors class.
However, they're probably no harder than typical upper level classes at MIT, Harvard, etc. and if you are taking the "hard" math classes at Harvard such as math 55 then you are screwed.

Re: The Official June 2015 Waiter's Thread
Did anyone else have the experimental RC? It was absolutely horrible...the first passage, first section was so very nasty. It reminded me of the Birth of Chicano Theater passage from PT 60. It was about African American Historians? I ended up reading it and not being able to untangle all the information and was about to start making a disaster diagram but just skipped and came back to it with about 5 minutes.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
