I saw some people commenting on a -12 curve. What does that mean?

Hey guys- can someone PM me and explain how they arrived at the correct answer for LR #1 Q12? I was between A and C but still don't fully understand how A definitively justifies the reasoning.

This just means that you could get 12 wrong and get a 170.historyman7 wrote:I saw some people commenting on a -12 curve. What does that mean?

Re: December 2014 RE-takers Thread
I am sadly, checking-in.
I've been creeping these boards for a very long time, so I know someone on here is bound to be of some help to me.
I've been averaging between 169-171 on my PTs, with an original (timed) diagnostic of 163. To keep things short, over the summer my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, she kept the news from me knowing that I was studying for the September exam, but her surgery to remove the tumor ended up being scheduled the day before the LSAT, and seeing as I still live at home, it wasn't something that she could hide. I knew I should have cancelled my score after sitting the exam, but I was too damn curious to see how I had done. I got a 147. I knew my score would be low, BUT A 147?!?!?!?! Needless to say I've been a hot mess since last night, I know this isn't a honest reflection of my abilities, and that I have a tangible excuses as to why this occurred, but I still feel like shit/a joke.
Do you guys recommend holding off on submitting apps till December scores are released, or should I submit my apps now and asked they be placed on hold? Does it matter? I am not aiming for top 14 if it makes a difference. I'm from SoCal and would like to stay here for work as well, so I aiming towards UCLA and USC. I was anticipating a much lower score than my average, but never something as bad as this, so my initial plan was to get my apps in with a lower score and place them on hold - but with a 147, I feel like schools won't even allow me that option.

I have a very similar question but without the extremely difficult circumstances you are in. Sorry to hear about your mother - wishing for the best for you both.GrangerDanger wrote:I am sadly, checking-in.

My earlier question was: "What if I apply in the next week or so and indicate I will be taking the test again in December? How does that factor into the game?"

Pretty sure if you send in your apps and you end up sitting for the December test the schools won't review your application until your December score comes in.

sorry to hear man... but I see no point in submitting apps with that score... if you have them ready then great but I would just wait IMOGrangerDanger wrote:I am sadly, checking-in.

Checking in because I saw Movie (ETA: and Rigo) was in here. Hoping my Sept. performance was a fluke. I am going to start studying hard again on Thursday.

Not sure what the difference between having your app set aside and submitting in December with your score.cavalier2015 wrote:i'm on a similar boat (149 LSAT..from a PT average of 173). i contacted schools and they told me that I can apply now IF i have my apps ready and they could place it on hold and wont consider till after december come in.Dirigo wrote:Granger: Definitely hold off on submitting until after December.

I think it'll be 55 or 56. I forget what the feeling is about PTs in the 40s -- are they too dissimilar from more recent tests to be useful diagnostic tools? I used a few RCs and LGs from the 40s as experimental sections, but otherwise, they're still fresh for me.Dirigo wrote:Do you know which PT you're taking yet?hetookmetoamovie wrote:I'm sorry Sept. was a disappointment for you, Toby, but I'm really glad to have you hereToby Ziegler wrote:Checking in because I saw Movie (ETA: and Rigo) was in here. Christ, I know we can beat this thing!

For example, I'm taking PT 58 next Wednesday in the morning. At night (Review), I'll do some variation of blind review for LR, re-do the RC passages untimed, and re-do whichever logic game gave me a hard time until I'm ok with it. Then on Thursday I'll use the Cambridge packets to drill the LR question types that I messed up during the PT and/or blind review.YeezusPiece wrote:I'm curious, what do you mean by Drill 58, 59, etc? Thanks for the response guys! It's absolutely frustrating to see all your hard work go to waste, but I guess that's life for you. All I can do is take it as a learning experience and grow from there.
Going to start really getting back into things this weekend, anyone have any links to a good schedule for essentially a month of prep?

Oh nice. I've seen a lot of the tests on my schedule so it wouldn't make a huge different which order I take them. If any of our PTs coincide and you'd like to review, just let me know!Dirigo wrote:Looks good (and remarkably similar to mine) dasani. I stagger the tests a little more though.

Dasani, when you drill post PT, do you do that timed or untimed?
