It's so perfect this came up after a post saying TLS needs to be nicer to 0Ls.
It couldn't be better actually.

The brief anecdotal interlude before it departed was appreciated. Good shit.

I value TLS's harshness. It's the reason why I post here: because I know I will have direct and informative advice. It saved me from going to GW and told me to aim higher.

Wait no one stood up at grad/the after party to say they got a shit outcome?Saddle Up wrote:Went to my sister’s graduation yesterday and everyone was happy with their offered outcomes and without any exception I know of, they are now doing bar prep. With that I shall bid a farewell, and (except for the two smart people in the room) I hope everyone else keeps plugging away at promoting sticker… those schools appreciate your endeavors for them to make as much money as possible.

I know at my own graduation I went around and told all of my classmates' siblings the details of my employment situation. If he didn't hear anything, it's safe to assume 100% employmentIAFG wrote:Wait no one stood up at grad/the after party to say they got a shit outcome?Saddle Up wrote:Went to my sister’s graduation yesterday and everyone was happy with their offered outcomes and without any exception I know of, they are now doing bar prep. People who didn't have a jerb at my graduation were forced to not have a robe. Or a tie. Or shoes.
The sad part is, many of us "bitters" were that bad 3-4 years ago. I think the obnoxious snowflakes from back then left and don't wanna talk about it much. I know I don't.

So Mr. Fox, I got a 162 on my first go and a 167 on my second. I'd like to hear whether you think I should retake the test or not go to go law school.

Litigation, be it Big Fed (SEC, DOJ) or a Big Law firm. I've seen litigation with small law when interning for a judge. Litigating in court and negotiating settlements are fun; litigating and negotiating over car accidents and whether Building A's scaffolding damaged Building B's wall does not stimulate me.Desert Fox wrote:What do you want to practice and why?Pragmatic Gun wrote:So Mr. Fox, I got a 162 on my first go and a 167 on my second. You realize that those last two things count as "negotiating settlements," right? And if a settlement is not negotiated, you end up litigating those matters "in court." If your dream is to litigate antitrust matters for DOJ or something, think twice before attending law school. Most of the available jobs out there are going to be a lot closer to those examples that "do not stimulate you" than they will be to high-end antitrust or civil rights litigation.Pragmatic Gun wrote:Litigation, be it Big Fed (SEC, DOJ) or a Big Law firm. The last two things are just examples of what I saw, in court or in chambers. Civil matters seem dry to me unless it's over something major like discrimination (or something that will win me major compensation, lol). While criminal trials draw my interest more (white collar crime), I haven't had close experience with it. Can't comment as to that. I guess this "snowflake" will have to do even more research.rpupkin wrote:You realize that those last two things count as "negotiating settlements," right?
