Very irritating test. Could not focus, but got very lucky. i don't know what to take away from this.

Ended up taking RC of 52 with PT 46.
Score on 52 and 46 were both 180.
Missed 2 on 52 RC which were absolute idiot mistakes.
PT 53 tomorrow morning anyone?

Yeah, I think that sounds like a good plan. My first time around I took PTs every weekday and didn't get any regular exercise. I think it hurt me a bit in terms of burnout and lack of stress release. This time around i'm exercising regularly, and I feel a lot better overall. So ya I think what you're doing sounds like pretty optimal, at least for my experience.aesis wrote:PT 46 on Thursday.
PT-review 2-day cycle is not that bad. I don't feel myself burning out, but I am pretty adamant about not thinking about LSAT until I have to prep/take a test. Or at least, not actively thinking about it.
I'm thinking about getting regular exercise, anyone with me?

Don't even know why i took the test today considering i have a cold, slept poorly the night before, and got into an argument with me mum. All that did not translate into a great mental state. PT 48 is one of my lowest scores in easily 15 tests. I got a 163 but the funny thing was my first two sections I did pretty solid, but the last 2 was just horrific and the last 5 LR questions were all wrong. Definitely not a great mental state to be in. At least i know how terrible I can do with a poor mood. Thankfully, it wasn't an abysmal test and I can grow stronger from it. Here's to PT 49 tomorrow and knocking it out of the park *takes a drink of his gin*

PT 46
RC -1 LR -2/-2 LG -0
94 raw, 175 scaled.
This is my fifth straight 94 raw. O_O. Can't seem to break through it. I guess I can say I'm consistent at least.
Bleh. I'm also not that motivated this week ...

PT 50 just bent be over and took my dignity, I dunno why but I did PATHETIC on BOTH LR sections, did average on LG/RC..These curves seem to be getting stingier with every test I take...back to the drawing board.

Just took 55. Completely destroyed me. Got a worse score than I have gotten in my entire prep this time around, and most of my prep the first time. 167, worse than my score on the real thing 2 years ago (which was a 169). I have no idea what the hell happened here.
I have had some personal stuff going on and wasn't really able to concentrate, so I could tell I wasnt at the top of my game, but wasn't expecting -13 when I graded it. Consistently screwed up every single section (between -2 and -4 when I have been -0 and -1 lately). After two 180s in a row, I am kinda on the verge of a break down.
Has anyone experienced a drop like this? any ideas about what the hell might have happened/what I can do now?

I scored a 180 on PT 52. 97 raw. -1LR, -0LG, -0LR, -1RC.
Not a fan of Comparative Reading, but the RC I missed wasn't even on that, it was on goddamn turtles or some shit like that.

I'm in a bit of a funk right now. And I never even ever got a practice 180, unlike you.Just took 55. Completely destroyed me. I thought I had reliably reached a mid-170s range. Then I sunk down to about a 172, then a 167 and 168. One substandard score might be a fluke, but two in a row? I don't know what's going on. The 167 and 168 were due to strange meltdowns in LG and LR that I haven't experienced since I first began to study.
I think I need to take a break. Get my mind off things. Or at least stop doing PTs. Go back to the Bible, do some sections. Get my confidence up again.

My 4th 180 ever! Gotta love that curve though. Also, I got lucky with LG as I ran out of time for the last game and had to semi-guess the last 2 questions. I think I have to go back to the drawing boards with LG and revisit my techniques for identifying inferences and templates. The last 2 games took me way too long to finish.
Overall, pretty pleased with the result. Only 8 more PTs to go!

Hey, I have a question for how you added up your score. There was a question removed from scoring (#15 in the RC section). Are you supposed to count yourself as getting that right when you're adding up the score? I got 97/180 on this test as well, but I got one wrong on the first LR and one wrong on RC - but since there are only "99" marked questions, this came out to 97 for me... as in I didn't count #15 in RC.Cromartie wrote:PT 52 in the books.Cromartie wrote:I'm taking this PT on Sunday.eit wrote:PT 52 tomorrow!

Are you supposed to count that one as right? I've just been counting them as something I didn't get right (i.e. there's 22 questions, I get one wrong, one is removed, I put down 20 for that section).

Oops, my bad. You guys are right. I have a 96 for 178 for this PT. Obviously, my brain hadn't sufficiently recovered from the PT yet to process things correctly. Dang, there goes my 180. Anyway, going to be a busy rest of the day for me. USA vs. Turkey for the FIBA gold, Rafa vs. Novak later for the US Open championship, then my basketball team plays our 6th game in the local league we're playing in.
PT review will have to wait until tonight. Happy studying to all!

Re: Pt 50-60 September Crew. Enter Here
Just finished up with PT55. Wanted to go over my LR errors on here to try an get the reasoning to stick in my head. Hopefully someone else will find it useful as well.
Sec.1, #14: C-- You shouldn't try to get tastes that are expensive
I chose A without really thinking through why, just sort of shot from the hip. Classic rookie error. E is credited because the argument lists reasons in support of the conclusion, without addressing potential drawbacks to the conclusion.
Sec. 1, #25 C--n/a
I chose A again because I was trying to go to fast, and didn't think through each statement. However, A does follow pretty clearly when you symbolize the statements, and combine the second with the third's contrapositive. C however is credited because it's just taking two necessary conditions and pretending like one is sufficient for the other. It's basically nonsense that's made to look reasonable.
Sec. 3, #17 C--You have to take them away before you show, or tell everybody they aren't staying
I chose D because the "morally obliged" and "mislead" parts fit with the argument's conditions. However, I missed that "deliberately" is a bit too narrow for the principle to really work in this case. Therefore, A is credited because it expands from deliberately misleading to any time a person might reasonably assume. The broader set of conditions squares with the argument's.
Sec. 3, #25 C--The demands are not justified
I chose E because I thought the problem was the comparison to the history department. But I see now the problem is that the dean assumes there is no reason to have a math teacher shouldn't teach the course because there isn't advanced math in it. That is why B is credited because it takes one condition that could be sufficient to have a mathematician teach the course, denies it, and concludes on that basis that there are no other conditions sufficient.
Hope this doesn't include so many details it gets the folks in Newton, PA bothered.

No worries at all. The US Open final was delayed by rain, so I had a chance to review my PT 52 performance.eit wrote:Aw, I'm sorry! I honestly just wondered since I wasn't sure if my way of doing it was correct.
My 3 mistakes were all in LR2:
No. 13: Narrowed it down to D and E and chose E. Failed to note the word "automobile" in E, which makes the answer choice wrong. This error is particularly concerning since I hadn't circled the question indicating that it was a difficult one...in other words, I was pretty confident with my answer. Getting a question wrong after recognizing it as a tough one is acceptable; getting a question wrong when I was confident I had it right is unacceptable.
No. 17: Didn't circle this question either. Narrowed it down to B and D, but then went with D. I should've noted what Graham's conclusion was before answering the question. Had I done so, it would have been very obvious to me that B was the correct answer.
No. 18: I had circled this question and narrowed the options to C and D. Initially chose D, then switched to C. Had I not changed my answer, I would've gotten that 180! I'm still not entirely convinced that D is the right answer as C is a pretty good choice as well.
Based on my mistakes, I need to keep working on minimizing, if not eliminating, careless mistakes resulting from not paying enough attention. I also need to drill LG as I almost ran out of time on this section and had to semi-guess the last 2 questions.
This is my 2nd straight 178. Hopefully, PT 53 on Wednesday will yield improved results. Now off to my basketball game!

sorry to be jumping in the midst of things, but i'm also doing 50-60 this month!
just out of curiosity, was it question 14? that was also the only question i missed...the awful syntax in the credited response threw me off. i'm still not sure why "D" is incorrect, either. is it because of the word "unique"?
