Should I fear LSAC "dinging" my GPA
I have no "withdraw" classes and no "incompletes" on my transcript. Also, I have no Pass/Fail classes.

I don't know if you should fear it, but I got dinged .02. Unfortunately, that .02 dropped me from 3.61 to 3.59.

So the only way that your GPA might be changed is if their numbers differ from your school's.
This is their GPA letter equivalents,
A+ 4.33
A 4.0
A- 3.67
B+ 3.33
B 3.0
I actually got a bump from LSAC, because my school treats A+s as 4.0.

Re: Should I fear LSAC "dinging" my GPA
I had a 3.85 GPA with no withdrawals, incompletes, etc., and mine went down to a 3.72 because of dual enrollment classes I took while in high school (why on EARTH did I feel the need to take the tough science classes when I knew I didn't want to be a doctor?) and the fact that my undergrad's grading scale is inflated (no minus grades). Thankfully, it's still pretty high, and I actually expected them to compute it at a 3.67, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I had a 3.5x. LSAC gave me a 3.4x because I'd retaken a course and my UG doesn't suppress retaken class grades on transcripts, though they don't use them in their GPA calculations.

yeah, not cool! shouldn't have taken those stupid "college" classes in high school....Darth Topher wrote:good god!mikeyp wrote:-.09, 3.64 to 3.55
i actually ran into a teacher i had from hs, had a conversation with him about why i was very unhappy with the way they encouraged people to take those classes in high school instead of AP classes. i'm not going in to my old high school to talk to classes about this situation, because it sure effed me up.

Mine went up .04 because of pluses. Very very pleasant surprise. I was really confused when I first saw my GPA b/c I didn't know that LSAC changed it.

Yep. And the opposite will happen, for instance, where the school treats an A- as 3.7, because LSAC always counts them as 3.67.So the only way that your GPA might be changed is if their numbers differ from your school's. I actually got a bump from LSAC, because my school treats A+s as 4.0.

Mine went down .02, I think because my school counts GPAs to the thousandth, and LSAC only counts them to the hundredth.snotrocket wrote:Yep. mine was dinged .06. boo.
and what kind of schools give out A+? sounds like bloody high school stuff to me.
also interesting info from lsac transcript: no one from my school got a 4.0 (and applied to law school).

I hadn't even noticed that, there are none at mine either! An interesting point, I wonder if that makes any difference at all...yadayadayada wrote:mine was dinged .06. boo.
