Senior Underload: Do Law Schools Care?

Post by bcostin » Sun Aug 07, 2016 12:13 pm

I'm a currently a senior at a top state university, and I only need two classes to graduate. Do top law schools care if I do a senior underload in the my final semester? I'm shooting for Duke or UVA if that makes a difference.

I searched for "senior underload" on the forum, but I couldn't find anything. However, if this question has already been answered please point me in the right direction.

They won't care. By senior year a friend of mine had satisfied nearly all his degree requirements and took a significantly reduced course load so he could focus on writing his thesis. It didn't seem to any affect on his cycle as he was admitted to both SLS and HLS. I did the same, although I didn't apply last cycle, i'm taking the year off to get some w/e and will apply this upcoming cycle.

it won't matter. as long as you have a GPA calculated by lsac, that's all that matters from undergrad

Like OP is planning on doing, I took a very light senior year. I hope that it won't negatively affect me at all. I am aiming for HYS so hopefully they will only care about LSAT/GPA
