I took the free course Common Mistakes in law school on Udemy. It says it is more beneficial to cap your studying each day for lectures and continue to be focused on studying for finals. Pretty much that class prep each day is not nearly as important as finals studying. Among the reasons are that finals are the only thing you are graded on and that this time could be spent doing practice questions for finals. At first seemed counterintuitive, but actually starting to agree with that.

Re: Finals studying over lecture prep..?
The only reason to prepare for class is to not get embarrassed. If you don't get cold called or don't care about being embarrassed then there is no reason to prepare.
Studying for finals consists of finding a good outline so that doesn't really require that much time either.
