Part-time Jobs During 1L
Is it feasible to do a part-time job during 1L to try to defray living expenses or should one just bite the bullet? Obvy, 1L is gonna be hell, but interested in thoughts!

Re: Part-time Jobs During 1L
Just wrapping up the first bit of 1L now; I worked ~20/week throughout. It's hard, and requires excellent time management, especially moving into November. It's doable, but if you can avoid it, or if you think there is any way it will negatively impact your ability to study, don't do it. Exams are too important. But yes, possible; just be very very careful.

Re: Part-time Jobs During 1L
I'm currently a 1L and I have a part time job (technically). My situation is a little different, since the company I worked for over the summer let me keep working for them and the hours are super flexible. The first few weeks of school I tried doing a few hours every week but by mid-october I felt like I was too swamped. I felt like the time I spent working would have been better spent doing studying or outlining, so I basically gave up on work. I will probably go back to working a few hours every week at the beginning of next semester, and stop when I get busy again. FWIW I think a typical part time job with set hours would be too much stress and a waste of time, and the sacrifice wouldn't be worth the income.

Re: Part-time Jobs During 1L
It depends on whether you will be going to law school on a part-time or full-time basis and whether you are able to stay focused and manage your time appropriately. The first year of law school is typically the most difficult. It is not impossible but can be very difficult and overwhelming. You can either complete your first year and see if you have time for a job or work on a part-time basis and if it becomes too overwhelming focus more on school.
Best of luck!
