What do people wear to class?

Post by Drowninmyowntears » Wed Aug 05, 2015 3:47 pm

Maybe this is a dumb question but I just don't want to show up overdressed or underdressed. I know people dress really fancy for business school so I'm just wondering what the regular attire is for law school classes!

Thanks!

It's pretty casual, especially after the orientation/first week of class anxieties have passed. Of course you'll never pry the polos/button downs off of some people...

Between 1-4 students per section will dress fancily day in and day out. The rest of the class is a mix of jeans, jorts, t-shirts, hoodies, yoga pants, and gloom. The professor will probably wear a tie (or the female sartorial equivalent) most days. If you show up to class with the more sensitive regions of your legs and torso clothed, all will be well.

Full suit, with vest. I would also suggest sock suspenders.

Law school is a professional school.

You should dress like a professional

Bulletproof logic.

Seriously. It doesn't matter. This is not something to fret the day before the first day of class. Dress for your day. As for me, I'm going to gravitate to the person that has the killer, vintage Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles backpack.

If you wanna sit with the cool kids showing up with the "3 years of this better lead to one hell of a bar" shirt is a must.

Edit: forgot a word...

1. What business school do you go to that people dress really fancy at? People at my law school dress up way more than at my b-school.

Also, feel like I'm having deja vu.

I don't buy the professional stuff. Save that for interviews

Yoga clothes, sometimes hoodie. I go with comfy cute - though not sloppy

Make sure you wear a suit during orientation and the entire first week of class. Preferably black to symbolize your classmates' funeral, as you will surely annihilate them with your superior academic prowess. Also, print out business cards to hand out to everyone you meet. I've found that subtle off-white coloring and a watermark are most effective.

0L here. My uniform will be short sleeve shirt and jeans. Dreading the day I have to wear a suit.
