Is TLS no longer bullish on WUSTL?
I remember in my lurking and beginning of having an account days, TLS was wicked pro-WUSTL because of how much money they seemed to be giving.
Now there's scandals and stuff, has TLS turned on this school?

TLS was bullish on full-rides to the school. I would still take a full ride there>sticker at a T14.

Re: Is TLS no longer bullish on WUSTL?
0L committed to WUSTL (full tuition, chose WUSTL over multiple T14s with money for a number of reasons)--
I don't see WUSTL being any different than it has been in past cycles. Still a regional school (albeit a good one) with a lot of money to attract T14 applicants. People are always going to transfer away for a "1/3rd" scholarship, but from what I can tell, WUSTL's strength is about what it used to be. It will never be a T14 school or even UCLA/UT, but I imagine it will continue to be one of the strongest regionals for at least the next couple decades.
From what I've heard, there were some scandals last year, but I don't think either is unprecedented for a law school, just unusual, and certainly not indicative of school quality.
It's worth noting that from what I can tell the c/o 2018's class size will be much smaller than 2017's (I'm guessing 180-190 compared to 270), and I am predicting we gain an LSAT this year, while most others drop.

Re: Is TLS no longer bullish on WUSTL?
Hmm who are you, haven't seen you around these parts.ttam30 wrote:I'm one of the people leaving WUSTL.
People are transferring out because it's pretty easy to go from the top of WUSTL into the T14, and WUSTL doesn't have the regional appeal of similarly ranked schools.
I feel like everyone I know here came because it was the best they could do at a low price, due to the massive scholarships, rather than because it satisfied any long term goals. Now that those other schools are available, a lot of people are leaving. Some people are here because they want to work in the region, but not many.
I really do like it here, the school is beautiful, the city isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and the faculty is great. I'm sure I'd have plenty of job opportunities if I were to stay, just not the ones I'm looking for.
And lol at STL not being that bad.
But yeah it's basically a lot easier than people think to transfer up from WUSTL (other T20s as well). If you're top 10% and just want NYC biglaw, probably not worth it to transfer and you'll end up with the same job, but if you're medianish or just top 1/3rd, any T14 is gonna be a better bet because WUSTL has 100% preselect OCI, whereas obviously the T14 is all lottery (minus GULC doing a mix, but I think that's the only one). Even at top 1/3rd at WUSTL you're probably shut out of most interviews, so it's worth it to move up for the better shot at a firm job. The biggest thing is that a lot of people below top 1/3rd can get into some T14s, so at that point you should leave no matter what your goals are.

WUSTL UG seems like one of those schools like George Washington and like Fordham and Brandeis and shit where rich people send their kids that aren't Ivy material but still want to go to some elitist private school.
