Really depends on what it is. We need some sort of idea. Are you a member of the Golden Dawn?

There are plenty of hardcore Zionist activist types in the T14 so I'm sure you'll be fine.Cradle6 wrote:CounselorNebby wrote:Really depends on what it is. We need some sort of idea. Are you a member of the Golden Dawn?
I would hope that Golden Dawn isn't considered normal here in America.
I was strongly involved in Israel advocacy since high school.
Can be a very polarizing issue for some people.

Advocating for the subsuming of the entire Middle East into Israeli control?
A return to the pre-second intifada line?
This isn't really an issue that takes kindly to bipolar positions.
If you have a reasonable position like, Israel has the right to exist as a country, no one is gonna ding you for that.
If you're a Zionist or anti-Zionist extremist, you might not wanna play that up.

It's always good to be mindful of how your application will be read, especially potentially controversial parts. But I think as long as you keep those concerns in mind when crafting your application, it shouldn't be an issue. To the extent law schools care about softs, I think they'd be happy to have more ideological diversity in their incoming class.
I don't see why you'd need to exclude your advocacy work from your resume. If you do decide to focus on it in your PS or other essays, just make sure to treat it thoughtfully and to avoid coming across as someone who's hostile to the other side of the debate or unable to deal with other perspectives. As with pretty much any potential PS topic, it could be handled well or it could be handled poorly depending on how your write it.

Re: Political affiliations and admissions
ya mention it. i think JS mentioned at some point that she liked admitting people with controversial viewpoints because civil argument "is at the heart of being a lawyer"
plus im sure academics get bored of the same old liberal circle jerk (source?)
