TLS and adcoms
Do you think some adcoms dislike online speculation/data collection (e.g. starting a spread sheet listing applicants' numbers) to the point where it could hurt someone's application if they were able to match it with a username?
I asked Spivey but I'm curious about what others think too.

I don't think schools are in much of a position to be too picky about that stuff.

Why would an adcomm care whether or not you contribute to data collection?

She was in the FBI though, so I doubt she's typical.Desert Fox wrote:The Yale dean knew who I was and I didn't even apply there. Don't post your shit onlien.

lol...I looked into that.Desert Fox wrote:The Yale dean knew who I was and I didn't even apply there. Don't post your shit onlien.
I definitely agree with you on the typo issue. Kind of ironic given that there is a pretty bad typo on their LSAC app, even though it was apparently proofread multiple times.

TBF if adcoms considered how hard the TLS contingent has sold Northwestern they might decide megaposters are an asset.rad lulz wrote:That's what you get for doing BP broDesert Fox wrote:The Yale dean knew who I was and I didn't even apply there. Don't post your shit onlien.

Username matching to real-life applicants is real
Whether or not that could hurt you, idk, though I can certainly imagine it being harmful

Supposedly at the WUSTL ASW, the adcom was able to pinpoint a few TLSers. She got Attax and LeBrarian Booker mixed up though.

This scares me too. I used to feel so invisible on TLS but when I found out that it is so easy to find a TLS post on google, I just knew every law student or adcomm frequent these boards.
and +1 one the usernames. Alot of people use their initials or some sort of name that could be easily matched with your real name. plus thee fact that their lsn profiles are linked to TLS...

Re: TLS and adcoms
Sadly, this username is the old username of my Instagram and Twitter accounts. The accounts are no longer active, but a Google search still brings up my real name. I'm not paranoid about it; I just make sure to keep my TLS and LSN posts fairly normal. Hopefully the old links with my real name will disappear with time.chizzy wrote:This scares me too. Now literally everyone who reads that knows your real name. Congrats on outing yourself to all of TLS?

Literally, it's the second result on Google. If someone was interested in finding out who I am, it would take five seconds without me telling them how to do it.* I'm not too concerned.Mullens wrote:Now literally everyone who reads that knows your real name. Pretty sure my numbers give me away 100% so its either that or just go full anon. I don't think I've said anything bad so hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt me.

Re: TLS and adcoms
How do adcoms find out besides people explicitly posting their numbers or name?

Re: TLS and adcoms
I wonder if my deans of admissions/students knows who I am. Someone outed another megaposter at my school to the dean of admissions. Nothing really happened.

Re: TLS and adcoms
People post things about interviews, where they're from, where they went to UG, work experience, etc. that would be pretty easy for adcomms to figure out if they remotely cared.Pancakes12 wrote:How do adcoms find out besides people explicitly posting their numbers or name?

Complete/submit times, scholarship decisions and amounts etc. Saying "just sent in an LOCI" combined with post history can pretty much out anyone.

honestly much more concerned about being outed to jerbs as a tls poster than about adcomms.

Seems extremely unlikely an empolyer will find you on TLSHRomanus wrote:What are the repercussions on employment of being a TLS poster? In any case, I'm planning on significantly decreasing my activity here when I matriculate.
