Opinions on GPA fixing?

I'm still in UG and I'm pretty sure I want to go to LS now. I've talked to my family and they stand by my decision as well. I'm 23 now but when I was 19 I moved away to college and pretty much flunked my way out after going through some personal things. Anyways, now I'm back at another Uni and I've been killing it recently. I believe I can graduate with high honors in Accounting. My only issue is I don't want my GPA to hold me back from the upper t6. I know LSAC reports all grades so even if my now current UG GPA is 3.7 my old GPA will reduce it drastically.

I don't think an addendum will serve me well even though there's an obvious upward trend. My question is, how would postponing my UG degree and taking other classes to "boost" my GPA effect me in admissions?

Will Adcomms look at me differently or is the GPA number all they care about? I know some med. students go back to fix their GPA but I want to do it while in UG. I feel as if the money/time spent now on extra classes only will benefit me.

I see a lot of 0L splitters and their prospects are not that great with 3.2/171 looking at UVA with little to no money or they opt for lower ranked schools. I'm not saying there's anything wrong w/ these schools, I just want to increase my chances at the upper level LS and some scholarships/aid would be nice too.

I wouldn't spend a lot of money or time doing this because as others mentioned it takes a lot of good grades to make a meaningful impact on your LSAC GPA once you've taken a few years worth of credits. An extra semester to get comfortably over a GPA floor is one thing, but taking years to move your GPA from 2.6 to 3.0 isn't worth it. It really comes down to what your GPA is right now. For a school like Columbia, you'll need to get your GPA up around a 3.3 and score solidly above the 171 median on the LSAT.

Before embarking on any schemes to bring up your GPA, send all of your transcripts to LSAC and see what your official LSDAS GPA is.

The "upper" T6 is HYS which you have no shot of getting so just say CCN. As others have said, depending on how many Fs you have, there's just really no way to pad your GPA enough to bring you to CCN levels, or at least CCN levels at debt that makes sense. And that much GPA padding would be obvious and not reflect well on you to adcoms. The opportunity and money cost of delaying your degree to boost your GPA is not worth it. You're better off focusing on the LSAT and improving your 3.7, which is kind of low for the T6 anyway (and hardly "killing it" :? )
